“Every day, people serve their neighbors and our nation in many different ways, from helping a child learn and easing the loneliness of those without a family to defending our freedom overseas. It is in this spirit of dedication to others and to our country that I believe service should be broadly and deeply encouraged” - John McCain

Did some SAR recon from the beach today and was able to see the 47 assist a disabled sailboat struggling in the weather. The sailboat had a line fouled in their propeller and where being battered by 6-8ft waves and strong winds. The sailboat was able to free it's prop and the 47 escorted them in.
While state officials in the Carolinas are closely monitoring the human death toll from Hurricane Florence, it is doubtful that we’ll ever know how many animals’ lives — some beloved pets — the storm has taken.
This video is from Marcus DiPaola via twitter where he stated:
“Rescued six dogs in Leland, NC, after the owner LEFT THEM locked in an outdoor cage that filled with flood water that was rapidly rising.
We got them out, but by the time we left, the water was so high that they would have drowned. BRING YOUR PETS WITH YOU!”
Couldn’t agree more.
