Australia is in a heatwave that is breaking several records (an increasingly common occurrence - go figure?) Don't beat the heat by hiding in aircon - get a hammock and go enjoy the cool micro climate that trees provide without causing emissions (assuming you live somewhere that isn't running on 100% renewable energy)🌴👌
Photo by @DaisyGilardini // Arctic terns are simply amazing little birds. With a length of 13-14in (33-36 cm) and a wingspan of 30-33in (76-85 cm) these incredible creatures cover roughly 44’200 miles (71’000 km) every year migrating from the Arctic to Antarctica. One of the longest migration known in the animal kingdom.
Their beauty and elegance in flight are breathtaking.

Photo by @taylorglenn // The summit glacier of Mt Kilimanjaro. The cone of Mt Meru in the hazy ether beyond. Pastel hues of sunrise in the sky. An exquisitely peaceful morning on the summit of Africa’s highest peak. Soon after making this image my guide informed me that he anticipated this glacier having around 10 years left before it was gone. This was 2 years ago. I can only wonder if this was an accurate timeline but it is happening. And regardless it is a tragic reality of the #anthropocene. I am grateful to have seen it with my own eyes and to have made this picture of a very special and beautiful place on this earth. #climatechange#glacier#africa#tanzania#kili#kilimanjaro

Half-way through the veggie/vegan challenge! 🔥 Wow, we are so proud of all of us. 💛 It's not easy to break our habits or change our preferences, so a huge round of applause to those who have made such an effort. We are so touched every single day that we have found a group of people connected by solidarity, a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to ponder global wellbeing both from a human perspective and one that encompasses all living forms ⚘
When I go litter picking I find so many wrappers and packets. So sad that people litter, but also it’s a reminder that we need some innovation in this area too. This stuff can’t go in the recycling, so it’s gonna end up in landfill... or maybe incinerated depending on your council. How great would it be if someone invented packets that can be composted? In the meantime @terracycleuk partnered with @walkers_crisps so you can send empty crisps packets to them. Check it out.
The word ‘superfood’ is a marketing term. Normally for foods that require marketing (clue) and that have undoubtedly been flown halfway across the globe and become to expensive for those people who have been eating it for centuries ( #avocado#quinoa etc). As a registered nutritional therapist I have never and will never recommend #vegan diet for any reason. If you’re worried about the environmental impact of your food choices you’ll need to consider that crop agriculture is destroying soil, the UK soil association has said there are 100 harvests left and then the soil will not be able to nurture any crops after that; seen the movie Interstellar? Also, choosing vegan is swapping your compassion from one group of animals to another, that’s it . Environment destruction is destroying our wildlife. Also, how do you think animals are kept off almond plantations etc, harsh words? If you really want to make a difference support #regenerative agriculture (which regenerates soil, wild life and reduces #carbon in the atmosphere and reverses #desertification ), buy local, seasonal and organic. Then you can feel smug and start preaching to others. -- IT’S HAPPENING -- The Sixth Extinction 🦁💀
6 is the number of the massive species’ extinction that is currently going on.
Its difference with the previous ones? She is not caused by glacial period, volcanos eruption or meteor, but by Human.
Consequences? 75% of the species we know today are said to disappear in coming century. No more lions, giraffes or hippos in Africa, no more sled dogs in Snowy countries, … but in books and old TV documentaries 👍🏻
Reasons for that: widespread urbanization, need for increased living spaces, food, wood and oil productions, illegal hunting, …
Fight to preserve species and their natural habitats! 👊🏻
> Say stop to deforestation,
> Support species conservation projects, protected spaces creation and eco-tourism,
> Stand for reasonable consumption.

🤦🏼♀️Our planet’s resources are not being properly managed; last year England burned 10.9 million tonnes of material and is set to burn more in the years to come. .
This is why reusables and your choices matter. A considerable amount of plastic isn’t recycled even if you do your bit. And, if it is, it is ‘downcycled’ into a material or product of lesser quality and the market for it isn’t strong enough - therefore making it a costly endeavour. .
With a big ⁉️ around what will happen about transporting our waste to Europe post-Brexit, it is time to come up with new solutions! New materials, new markets and a new focus on the sustainability agenda. What do you think should be done?

Food packaging: keep it simple but safe! Or when less is more: Last night I had pizza from the freezer for dinner. I’m currently in France and turns out that they do away with the polystyrene bottom! Well, should not make a blanket assumption based on just one box, but at least this brand does! Just the rock-hard pizza in a bit of cling film and the cardboard box. That’s one bit of unnecessary plastic rubbish eliminated then! Well done 👍
Danke euch! Und @campaxorg fürs Teilen des Videos (🎥 via Sarah Serafini)
Magic bear by @melissa_schaefer ❤️ Few things in life fill me with so much life and emotions as being close to a polar bear. Usually it comes from far away. It has discovered us long before we see it. First just as a little dot on the horizon. Then closer and closer, trying figure out who or what we are. The bears that just are curios and decide not to eat us are of course the best ones working with. When they accept us, or even start ignoring us, we can begin documenting their lives. Me and Melissa have had some wonderful encounters the last few winters, when the bears have allowed us to follow them over longer periods. We’re hoping for the same this winter. But of course not all bears are like this. Some show aggression, and those we don’t allow close, we back off. That’s the first, second and third rule. The same goes a bear that shows nervousness or seems scared by our presence, like mothers with small cubs often do. We back off. We do leave footprints out there however. It’s impossible to take one single step outside civilization without disturbing wildlife. But we do everything we possibly can to minimize it. This is the polar bear’s land after, and everything has to happen on its terms. No matter how much time we’ve spent on the ice and no matter how experienced we think we are, on the ice - we’re just visitors. Respect is key to most things in life. ❤️
