What 800g of Zucchini looks like 😂🥒 I’m working on my next meal prep vid, one of my faves (which I’m pretty sure I’ve said about every single one I’ve done so far 😂) and I have one to release tomorrow woooo! But stay tuned for this one ➡️ Zucchini Pasta 🍝
Your body doesn’t “hate” you.
You don’t have a “bad” metabolism.
There’s nothing “wrong” with how it’s working.
In fact, it’s probably doing everything RIGHT for the sake of keeping you ALIVE.
If you have a history of restricting your calories and/or exercising excessively, your body will ultimately see this as a time of stress - STARVATION even- and will attempt to conserve all the energy it can by slowing down your metabolism and converting the calories you consume as fat (energy storage).
It will also shut down non-essential systems that aren’t required for survival, like your reproductive system. You obviously can’t have a baby when you’re starving!
This is when your hormones get out of whack, your thyroid slows down, and women will often lose their periods. You feel tired all the time, you’re gaining weight, and may even be losing muscle mass.
I know it totally feels like your body is betraying you at this point, but it’s actually trying to keep you safe. Your body’s innate intelligence is much smarter than your conscious mind.
So how do you get out of this mess?
1. Fuel your body with whole, nutritious food. Eat ENOUGH calories (not just nutrients) so your body knows it’s safe. It’s trying to heal so you probably need way more than you think!
2. Prioritise rest. Excessive exercise is a physical stress on the body; mental stress can have the same detrimental effects. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep and down time.
3. If you do workout, pick resistance training over cardio. Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue, so building muscle mass will help shuttle the calories to the right place.
4. Shift your mindset and self-love. If you’re constantly obsessing over your body and the number on the scale, then you’ll continue to run yourself into the ground with food and exercise. Focus on your non-physical attributes and find joy in things outside of the gym.
Your body doesn’t HATE you, it’s simply adapting to keep you safe.
Vegan cake by @vanelja ❤️ Recipe:
½ cup oat milk⠀
4 tbsp ground flax seeds⠀
1/3 cup coconut oil, melted⠀
⅔ cup applesauce, unsweetened⠀
1 tsp apple cider vinegar⠀
1 tsp vanilla extract ⠀
1 cup almond meal⠀
⅔ cup oat flour (or grind rolled oats in the blender)⠀
½ cup coconut sugar⠀
2 tsp baking powder⠀
tiny pinch sea salt⠀
Filling & on top:⠀
Coconut whipped cream or soy whip⠀
Tin diameter: 16-18 cm / 6,5 - 7 inches⠀
Preheat the oven to 180 C / 350 F degrees. Mix the oat milk and ground flax in a small bowl and leave to thicken for 10 mins. In the meantime measure the coconut oil, applesauce, apple cider vinegar and vanilla in a big bowl and stir well. Mix the almond meal, oat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder and salt in another bowl and mix then with the wet ingredients. Stir in also the flax gel. Grease a cake tin with coconut oil and pour in the cake dough. Bake for about 40-45 mins, until a toothpick comes out clean. Note that the texture of the cake should be a bit moist. Take the cake out of the oven and let cool completely. Split the cake in two with a sharp knife. Fill with coconut whipped cream or soy whip and banana slices. Set the other half on top of the lower half and frost the cake with coconut whipped cream or soy whip and place lots of fresh berries on top. Finalize with edible flowers. Enjoy! #veganfoodspace#vegantreats#treatyoself

Calories in fruit DO NOT MATTER... 🙅🏻♀️🚫🙅🏼♂️ you know why? It’s because when it comes down to it, (unless you’re eating 10 pounds of fruit a day), the calories consumed are the least important factor when it comes to nutrition.⠀
✔️Yes, eating too little or too many calories is detrimental to the body, but if you learn to fuel your body with quality foods over quantity foods, we promise that you will never need to count calories in food like fruit or veggies.⠀
✔️Yes, technically calories in must equal calories out in order to maintain weight loss.⠀
✔️Yes, you must burn off more calories than you consume in order to lose weight.⠀
But when it comes to health and nutrition, understanding what works and what doesn’t for each individual person is more important than calories...and that’s exactly why we’re telling you that calories don’t matter.⠀
Food should be used as fuel for your body. Everything you eat should be chosen to fuel your body with all of the nutrients that it needs to function properly, happily & healthy!⠀
