Last year I set my mind to write a children's book about Detroit and here it finally is, sitting on my kitchen table to read with my kiddos. 💜💜 Well kind of, I got my pdf proof back and my husband just printed that... 😉
I found an amazing illustrator to work with @heyapriliaa and her bright, colorful pics are perfect!
Can't wait to share it! I'll have copies in hand early this summer.
It's another #middlegrademonday and I really thought today was Tuesday! So I almost missed out! But today I'm showing off this lovely book! Which was the February @owlcratejr also can y'all believe that APRIL is next WEEK?! Where did this month go?
. . .
When you’re an identical twin, your story always starts with someone else. For Iris, that means her story starts with Lark. Iris has always been the grounded, capable, and rational one; Lark has been inventive, dreamy, and brilliant—and from their first moments in the world together, they’ve never left each other’s side. Everyone around them realized early on what the two sisters already knew: they had better outcomes when they were together.
Stumbled across this book and it made me laugh. Yes, Mrs. Spurgeon, homeschoolers everywhere can relate. (Swipe for more pics) 😆 It was actually a pretty cool little book. Click the referral link in my profile - I linked from there so you can find it! Because there’s always more room for books. ;) #proverbialhomemaker

This new book will break your heart. It will also fill it with hope, and you won’t be the same as before you began. It’s the story of two sisters who run away to escape a physically abusive father. The younger sister is disabled and has been hidden and sheltered by her mother for fear of her being taken away and institutionalized. When they land in Chennai, India they become friends with two boys who teach them to scavenge a meager existence by scouring the trash heaps. This is a story of courage, survival, all forms of family, acceptance, friendship, loss and determination. It’s oh, so, so, so incredible. I listened to it on audio, and author’s narration is beautiful. I generally speed up the audio to listen to books faster— but not this one, every rise and fall of the author’s voice added to my engagement with the story. I confess that I was listening to it in the grocery store this past weekend and burst into tears in the bread aisle. This is one of those books, right up there with Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper that I feel should be required reading for every human in grades 5 and up. Don’t miss this special book. #email@example.com#nancypaulsenbooks#homelessness#courage#bravery#family#mustread#2019reads

I wanted to jump on and a say a quick hello! I'm Janey - the mom, teacher, photographer and creator behind Darling Readers. I started this account to share my experiences with early literacy and encourage families to read, talk and play with their children every single day. I’m thoroughly convinced that if I can do it, you certainly can too!
•Where’s the Baby? By Britta Teckentrup• One more book session with this gem before we return it to the library. I asked my 20 month old to hand me either the baby or adult version of the animal and then we matched the animals back into their pairs 🐘

Hands up if you remember Farthing Wood?!?🦊🐿️🐇🦔🦡🦉🐸 I found this blast from the past in our local Oxfam and picked it up for a mere 99p! The girls, Sam and I have been reading a chapter a night for the last week before bed and it's been really nice reminiscing.
It does get a bit brutal in places (*spoiler alert* the poor elderly hedgehogs who aren't fast enough to make it across the motorway 😭😭😭) but overall we all really enjoyed following the animals on their adventure to a new home (after us rubbish humans ruined the last one!)
I seem to remember there being a Farthing Wood television series or film maybe back in the day?!will definitely have to hunt it down!
I keep forgetting it’s Friday! A few things change in my schedule and I can’t even tell what day it is 😂 Hope you’re having a good one!
I love these B&N children’s classics 😍 I’ve read them all except The Swiss Family and 20,000 Leagues, but I recommend all the others. So many good stories!
. #bookqueensmar19 book that ripped your heart out- The Little Mermaid 😭 #readgushmar19 pot of gold- I love the gold and silver foil details on these books! 💖

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY 📖❤️ Well some of the costumes I've seen on my feed this morning are just FAB!! Poor effort on my part as I was doing a last minute dash around town on Tuesday 🙈 will I ever learn?!?! But Delilah was very happy with her cat costume to match her current favourite book Bimbo and Topsy by @enidblytonofficial (pic on my stories) #lovebooks #worldbookday
We received Bunny's Book Club in a @bookroo_love box a few years ago, and it's been a consistent favorite in our house ever since. We read it multiple times a day for months when we first received it, and any time it makes our book rotation now, our girls ask for it over and over... and over... again! So what makes Bunny's Book Club by Annie Silvestro, illustrated by Tatjana Mai-Wyss, so special?
According to my girls, they love the fact that Bunny's Book Club about both a bunny (who is indeed adorably illustrated!) and books! In this story, we meet Bunny outside of the library, where he likes to hide in the bushes and listen to story time. But when the weather changes and storytime moves back inside, Bunny realizes "he couldn't live without books." So, he takes matters into his own paws and finds a way to get his books. His love then spread to the other animals, and the readers get to follow their adventures as Bunny's Book Club is created!
And me? I love that it gets my girls excited about books! They've even talked about creating their own book clubs... which clearly we'll do, maybe even this summer. The human characters depicted here are diverse, and the watercolor illustrations are both soft and warm, inviting readers to cozy up with this book-- and hopefully others, too!
Mai-Wyss switches things up between double spreads and small vignettes to tell her story, adding to the emotion we feel watching Bunny spread his love of reading. And, be sure to check out the endpapers-- what fun detail to have in a book!
Publishers recommend this for ages 3-7, but you can definitely go younger (we've been reading it since our youngest was about 1.5, and she adored it then!).
