The Pharisees were angry at Jesus for healing a man in the Sabbath, yet they were circumcising on the Sabbath. Jesus wanted them to make sure they knew the whole story and they were going to follow the law themselves before they started casting judgement.
How many times do we do the same thing? Make a judgement based on what we see and we aren't even living right. Jesus didn't say we shouldn't judge at all, but we should judge righteously. We can do this through prayer, with wisdom, and making sure it lines up with Scripture. As well as making sure we are walking according to God's will first.
It wasn't just believers who followed Jesus around. There were unbelievers too. Maybe they just wanted to see what all the "talk" was about, or they wanted to know more and see if He was the real deal, maybe they were there to criticize. Jesus knew who they were. He knew who the true followers were but wouldn't push anyone away because He loved them all and genuinely wanted each of them to come to know Him. But He also was not afraid to speak the truth and that offended the unbelievers, so they left.
It's like that in the church today. Not everyone who attends is a believer. And that's ok, because they can come to know the Father there. But there are some that just want to see signs and wonders or hear a good word and then become offended when lovingly corrected or the truth is spoken. We may not always see this about people, but Jesus sees inside of each heart.
To worship in Spirit and truth is to worship with everything we are. This includes bowing out heart to the Lord as well as our physical bodies. It means worshipping God for who He is and what He does.
Worship is a lifestyle. We worship in joyful times, but also in times of heartache because we know who God is. We can worship when our life appears to be in chaos, because we know what God can do. Out attitude, actions, and words should all declare that God is worthy of our worship.
In John chapter 1, over and over Jesus is referred to as the "Word" and the "Light." Jesus and God are one. The Word and the light came into the world in bodily form and they beheld His glory! And then Jesus said to His disciples, "come and see" and "follow Me." Following Jesus is life changing! He is the only light of the world and without Him we are left in darkness.
John 1 is the ultimate expression of God before all creation. Jesus was not merely from the beginning, He was IN the beginning. He was not only with God, but He was God. #goodmorninggirls#womenlivingwell#biblestudy#chapterbychapter#john1
So excited to start the book of John on Monday. I finished Mark a couple weeks before Christmas and have missed having a chapter by chapter study!
John shows Jesus in His deity as "The Son of God." Despite all that Jesus revealed to His nation, they did not receive Him and instead they crucified Him. Jesus laid down His life on the cross and because He is divine, His sacrifice paid the penalty for our sins.
Join us starting Monday as we read through the book of John chapter by chapter. *You do not need this journal- there are printable resources on the @womenlivingwell website. #biblestudy#chapterbychapter#john#goodmorninggirls
Being someone who enjoys reading and anyone else who is also into literary exploration you know to first "never judge a book by its cover" cliché but true because sometimes just the title can be a little off putting because it doesn't "make sense" only because it hasn't been read yet and once you have, it all comes together. Secondly, I have learned that just because a book may not be for you or it doesn't mean as much to you as the next person doesn't make it a terrible book or that nobody else can enjoy it, it simply wasn't for you. Finally I've learned that one chapter doesn't define or determine the worth of a book, AT ALL. What I mean by that is this; until you've read the book in its entirety, just reading random chapters will not help you. Until you've read it all and completely understand it for what it is then judgment NEEDS be withheld. Even still after all of that you truly don't feel any type of connection or you haven't learned anything doesn't mean it can't help the next person in their life, just accept that whatever the contents of the book are weren't for you and leave it at that and always be OBJECTIVE if ever you have a discussion about it because there's nothing worse than a clear bias of any sort. Being an inequitable person leaves little to no space for movement up or down the spectrum which equals no growth.
(Note: Hopefully you all understand the analogy here and I don't have to explain any further but if its necessary, I will.) #Beyoncé#Beyonce#BeyonceKnowles#BeyonceKnowlesCarter#QueenB#MrsCarter#MrsKnowlesCarter#Jayz#jigga#Jiggaman#Hov#Hova#ShawnCarter#MrCarter#JayZandBeyonce#HovandB#TheCarters#MrandMrsCarter#EIL#OTRII#realLove#Literary#reading#chapterbychapter
