Preferring swampy woodlands, the Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea) is a stunning sight, and sunglasses are recommended...view responsibly. Interestingly, these are among only two North American wood warblers who nest within tree cavities. Each spring, males will attract the attention of females with their vibrant plumage and prime real estate, which they decorate with a little bit of moss. Once a lady has selected him, she will complete the nest with her interior design skills, outfitting it with additional mosses and lichens...and, eventually, eggs...

Swipe to see the pano. This was 2 weekends ago before the garbage air quality. The skies looked promising from East Bay so I decided to make a last minute sprint (in traffic) to baker to catch this massive burn. Thanks @james.diep1 and @mahaha3 for the good vibes 🤙

Just a Sanderling lingering in the sand. I was watching a few of these poke around the shoreline for food and thought it was really cute how they would never let the waves touch their feet 😋
