@missholldoll - I used to sleep terribly in the backcountry. If it wasn't one thing, it was another. Too cold, too warm, my sleeping pad felt too thin, my body ached, etc. I had many nights that seemed to last forever, and very uncomfortably at that. Now those sleepless nights are few and far between and some of that has to do with the gear I take with me... and some is just from experience. So here's what I'm taking out with me these days.
Sleeping Pad: Nemo Equipment Astro Insulated Lite. It's great for side sleepers like me!
Sleeping Bag: REI Joule 21 - it's a three-season bag and I use it most of the time. On really hot summer weekends I'll take the Nemo Tango Solo with me instead.
Pillow: Nemo Equipment Fillo Elite Ultralite Backpacking Pillow.... stuffed inside a fleece lined stuff sack (flipped inside out obviously) with an old puffy coat inside as well. 😂 It's amazing.
Being comfortable will go a really long way, so figure out what works best for you. That will most likely require a little (or a lot of) trial and error, but you'll get there eventually! 🤗
