No victim~Remaining a victim of the past will make you a slave for a lifetime. It may not be a conscious decision to do so, but if we're constantly giving way to what has happened to us, who we were, or what we knew of our lives back then, those thoughts become our identities-the burdens we carry, the things we clothe ourselves in, and the attributes we allow to shape our character and define our being and the direction of our lives. What a shame that although all these things were put to death and cast away by the blood of a loving Savior who went to the ends of the earth to rid us of our trappings to make way for our renewal, by human nature because it's so much easier, we still cling to the things that stop us from diving into the new beginning He has provided. It is written, "therefore if anyone is in Christ He is a new creation. The old is gone and the new has come." (2 Cor 5:17) Imagine instead of just reading that, we believed it. Imagine if we accepted His offering of a new start instead of resting comfortably in our shortcomings (which somehow we can unfathomably find comfort in resting in.) Maybe it's the fear of change or the unknown that makes us question that step of faith in accepting that we aren't a victim of our past, but rather, a vessel of God's future hope. Whatever may be the thing holding us back from living as that new creation, know this. A step of faith with God into the unknown is 100 percent more effective than remaining in our "well-known" state of whatever causes us to become stagnant in our pursuit of Jesus Christ and the abundant life He has so gracefully provided for us. You are not a victim. You are a product-a product of love, grace, faithfulness and deliverance. It is in Christ YOU ARE this new creation, and a hope and a future is your story.
Today is my first off day from training. I went a total of 14 days working my ass off. Today’s also a “cheat day” which means I can really eat anything I want, of course in moderation. •
Tomorrow we are back in the gym!
“Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” - Jer 32:17 // Today marks the end to my journey as a student (finally). Culminating with Bethany’s 40+5 Anniversary Celebrations and starting work tomorrow, I’m reminded that the Lord continues to be present with me as I tread into new waters. The prayer from here is to be confident of this one thing, that indeed, nothing is too hard for the Lord.
