23. Top tip or advice
I'm addicted to using spray glaze these days, it's so useful to have on hand. Used on this cake to seal the gold leaf before stenciling. I use Shiny Spray from @cakerswarehouse . Order two so you don't run out!
I get the “how do I cut the cake” question quite a bit. To be honest, I didn’t really know because I don’t cut a ton of cakes, but I did a little research for you all and made a video of what looks to be the best way of getting it done! Think slabs not slices cake lovers xx

Cake cutting video!! 💕
This video is a little different than my normal posts but I have been wanting to do a video of how I suggest cutting taller cakes for some time! Personally, I love the look of a cake that is more than two layers! However, sometimes the taller cakes are harder to cut in traditional slices. 💕
A few tips/suggestions:
— cut a small slice off the one end of three cake - this slice will mostly be frosting!
— for the next few slices, cut straight across the cake and have a cutting board handy for the piece of cake to fall back onto. — once you have the big piece of cake on the cutting board or a plate, you can cut tall, rectangular slices into that piece. In my video the pieces ended up big. I easily could have done five slices across instead of just four! 💕
Also to note, this cake was a three layer 6” cake. I got 16 slices out of it but the slices were still big! Could have easily gotten closer to 20 if I hadn’t cut them as big and the pieces would have been just the right size! 💕
I know we've all seen plenty of these videos, but how good is it seeing a cake get hacked into?! 😜 I'd forgotten to take it out of the fridge early, so it was hard. Much easier to cut once it has come to room temp. Those raffaello chunks were SO good even if they made stacking a nightmare 👌

Here’s how to cut a tall layered cake. Start in the middle, half it, and keep a chopping board ready to catch the falling cake slab. Then cut it straight. Everyone gets a n evenly cut slice and some (very lucky) people get loadsa buttercream from the outside slices. You will find that in most gatherings, there is an even split between people that ❤️LOVE❤️ buttercream and people that are not too bothered 😂 This way of cutting a cake ensures you please both parties! .
Do you ❤️LOVE❤️ buttercream? Or not so much?!
