In September our Park Ranger found a Mocha Moth in one of the traps.
An amazing find as it’s the first recorded sighting of this moth in Lincolnshire in over a century!
The caterpillar feeds on Field Maple and the moth is mostly found on the South Coast.
A glorious Common Mormon butterfly appeared in the courtyard at breakfast. Then I noticed that she was busy at the Kari patta tree, laying eggs.
Tiny perfect transluscent pearls! This interesting species puts on red spots, to mimic unpalateable butterflies like the Crimson Rose or Common Rose. The males are relatively dispensable, they stay black and white, in their edible butterfly colours!
