My 2018/19 goal was to create more opportunities for both my client's and my business.
When I started @just_social_media I was lucky enough to get referrals straight away and from there our business grew. Referrals from current clients, as well as networking.
Whilst I am grateful for every referral, client and friend that I have made along the way, it important not to get complacent and to invest in our continued growth.
We are looking forward to hitting some major goals in the next 12 months.
Far out, it seems that everywhere I turn someone is bringing out an online course in social media marketing 😲 (which is great, good on them)
Now there is a LOT of fantastic content out there already, but I just wanted to warn that there seems to be misinformation out there, too. 🤔
Case in point: Just this week, a lovely business owner messaged me to ask if it was true that Facebook will penalize you if you include a link to your website in your posts. She was told (in a webinar about social media marketing) that you SHOULD NOT post links to your website AT ALL ❌. Therefore, following this advice, the FB referral traffic to her online store had decreased dramatically! 😱
Now while it's true that FB would PREFER if you stayed on the platform (this is why native videos uploaded to FB perform better than links shared from YouTube), it's inevitable that we're going to include links in our posts - because it's one of the reasons WHY we use social media: to get people to our websites, landing pages, webinars etc! 👉💻 It's not a bad thing.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, try make sure whatever course you buy or webinar you watch (in ANY topic, not just social media) is reputable (and not just copied/ pasted from other sources). AND I recommend not relying on just 1 source of info but various sources 📰 Like content from big industry experts, events, courses, memberships, webinars, FB groups, online publications etc
I'm a HUGE advocate for continuous learning/up-skilling. I sign up to these things quite often! (in fact I'm an on-going member of a certain course). But sometimes we sign up for something a little less-than-fantastic 😵
p.s. Before you ask: I have no plans at this stage to make an online course 😉

Delaying work and just scrolling social media feed or procrastinating?
Do it again?
Repeat 20 push-ups.
The point here is that youre loyal to yourself about doing the push-ups more than about doing 30 instead of 29.
Keep doing them until your body says no & your brain wont have you scroll the feed again when you're working.
Do you believe you can👆🏿? Cuz I know I can! My hustle game strong and more importantly strategic.
How are moving in your business? Did you even bother starting yet?! Have you researched? Built a platform? Put systems in place? Or have Content lined up? Are you still lost and all over the place instead of niche-ing down?
If you don’t plan to succeed, you plan to fail by default. The above will come as a result of specializing, strategic planning and execution. You need STRATEGY STRATEGY STRATEGY!!!! Start with the end in mind and hustle backwards from there.
Double tap if your cousin is as cool as mine!!
Happy Birthday to my cousin / bff @jessicamshort who makes me laugh until I’m in tears, is constantly on the lookout for a good Instagram photo opp (example pictured), is always down for a glass of wine & who shares my annoyance for bad drivers (unless its us bc we’re laughing too hard to go the speed limit)!
Cheers to another year of laughing at our own jokes, finding the cutest coffee shops, finally writing our book & lots of double decker wine!
Can’t wait to celebrate next week! Don’t worry, I’m stocking up on Pinot Grigio & ingredients for Phoebe’s cookies! Love you!
PS - I saved this pic for today!!!
The world defines leadership as the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.
Leadership is so much more than that. It is the art of inspiring people to be more than they ever thought possible and to be a stand for God's word in their life, even if they can't see it.
Leadership is about being humble enough to be led, searching for solutions outside the box the world would want you to operate in and being completely and totally coachable.
Yes. You really can't truly inspire others as a leader if you aren't willing to be led. Jim Harris mentions this in his book "Our unfair Advantage"..you oughta read it. You can motivate to your heart's content but the inspiration of others will be out of reach until you learn how to be led.
How do you as a leader in your industry find yourself being led? Are you coachable? Are you seeking out a great mentor to lead you?
Creativity at Starbucks Milan blew my mind!
Every company knows they have to innovate to stand out but keep on thinking: There is no room for innovation in my industry.
Look at this brilliant creativity example at Starbucks: Creation of a Starbucks Reserve Roastery in one of the oldest buildings in Milan!
A Starbucks where you are greeted at the door in a beautiful, historical building with as high ceilings as in ancient palaces.
Which flavor of freshly made ice cream would you like in your coffee today?
Or would you prefer the ‘Starbucks Bar’, where you can try any coffee and alcohol combinations.
Innovation is behind every success story
There is a tool you can use that will target people who are similar to your current audience. Which if you have been collecting emails through your website, or purchasing if you are building a cold email campaign like I am, then you can upload that info to Facebook and target those people. What you can also do is make a group called a look-a-like group. It's exactly what you think it is, Facebook finds people within a certain degree of difference from your audience. Here's where I differ from some people. I say never make a look-alike group more than 1 or 2 percent difference but unfortunately, that makes the process unscaleable or at least a low scalability. How can you? After you target and retarget to the same people over and over then your well will dry up. This is why running both brand and sales based ads is important. When you do that though best practice is to do A/B testing so that is a minimum of 4 ads running at any time. Then you have remarketing to do with both successful and unsuccessful conversions. With just that small marketing strategy you will need at minimum 8 ads running every month with 8 new pieces of creative content. Yeah, it can be a lot, but trust me it will get you sales and get you the insight you need to make the most successful Facebook ads you have ever run. Fill up that sales funnel and keep your business alive!
Be mindful of what you toss away, be careful of what you push away, and think hard before you walk away.⠀
one time you'll push too hard and that special person will be gone; just remember that. (comment your thoughts down below.)
