Ever feel like you’re just going back and forth? After a second rewarding day in #Austin yesterday teaching the @gotbuffbones Instructor Training, I was all set to return home to NYC today. But guess what - I’m still in #atx ! 😳 My flight was delayed 8 times and pushed back 8 1/2 hours - until it was finally just outright cancelled. 🤷🏻♀️ After much maneuvering with American Airlines, I’m lucky to have gotten the one seat out tomorrow. So I will go back again to the airport in the morning, hopefully with a smoother experience. And yet how lucky that this happened AFTER the course instead of on the way here! #onthebrightside ☝🏻
What a weekend! 💫 A big thanks to these movement professionals who came to our sold-out #Austin Instructor Training in this crazy cool city 🔥 - loads of locals and others flew in from Chicago, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Santa Barbara, Tucson, Dallas and Houston! 🙏 We loved spending time with them, sharing our #movement system, and having much-needed discussions on #bonehealth ! 💪 And thanks to @alignaustin for hosting in their calming zen studio!🧘♀️

Everyone is asking about the new #osteoporosis drug approved this week by the FDA. ⁉️ See bio for our statement on our Facebook page. To medicate or not to medicate? That’s not really the question. For us, the point is to go beyond the debate on medication and #bonedensity and acknowledge that balance, alignment and mobility can only be addressed and improved through movement and exercise.
This is why we happily remember two weeks ago in this #tbt to our master class and workshop at @studiompilatesandyoga for those confronting #boneloss or hoping to avoid it - showcasing what they can do stay “Steady, Strong and Supple”. 💪

Currently used for mat based Pilates classes this makes a great room for movement classes, however it can also be used for seminars or presentations.
The room is well lit with surrounding (opening) windows letting in lots of natural light, and additional lighting for those dark days.
It is fully mirrored and equipped with a barre around the room.
The floor is newly laid with a clean finish and space for up to 12 people on mats.
The room has built in heating, a water cooler and sound system available.
There is also plenty of nearby free parking available.

Why do people collapse into the “TV Watching position” in #singlelegkick ? This ain’t no easy exercise, folks! Especially the way we approach it with the emphasis on “PUSHING” into the forearms to lend support for the trunk and shoulder girdle.🔥
Notice the co-contraction of serratus anterior and external obliques - hello anterior oblique sling! 🙋♀️ No collapsing there!

My ongoing learning and lesson: I’m in a love affair with the #corealign . It’s become my go-to fix-it tool for unspiraling and resetting my pelvis after multiple sprains and misuse of various #hypermobile joints over several decades. The brilliance of the machine is that the body can figure it out for itself. 💫 #jonathanhoffman told me about his theories for developing this machine over a long dinner in Sydney back in 2013 when we were teaching workshops there. Fortunately I FINALLY got off my butt last fall to train on this brilliant device!🙏🏻
👀WATCH: Reps 1️⃣&2️⃣ moving the Right Leg show my spiral pattern of pelvis rotating to the Left. Then I correct it on reps 3️⃣&4️⃣. 🙌🏻
Then on the Left Leg, reps 1️⃣&2️⃣ start off well but I intentionally sink into the supporting hip on the return of the cart in the 2nd rep and again for rep 3️⃣ (See the spiral from the sink?)- but I correct it again with reps 4️⃣&5️⃣.
So what am I doing to “correct”? Finding my elusive external rotators - NOT piriformis, which I like most #ballet dancers abuse! And I’m getting my gluteals going, all with the help of the #myofascial#slings thanks to the standing orientation.👣
