Solomon “Sod” Collier and his family left Kentucky in February 1928 and headed west for Arkansas to establish a homestead in the Ozarks. Sod secured a 40-acre tract of land at Tyler Bend, and by 1937, the family had made enough improvements to the land to become its rightful owners. The family was one of the last in the area to acquire land through the 1862 Homestead Act.
The Colliers stayed on the land and farmed it until the 1960s. By the time the National Park Service purchased the land in 1978, the homestead had been swallowed by vegetation. Today, the homestead has been restored and can be accessed through trails at the Buffalo National River Tyler Bend Visitor Center. (Photo from National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior)
The hike to Hawksbill Crag is a rather easy one but the views is what makes it one of the most popular in the Ozarks. Next time I would pack a picnic for this trail and watch the horizon from a boulder on the cliff. #arkansas#ozarks#buffaloriver
All of our cabins are a great place for you to relax with your family and enjoy the simple things in life.
Spent the weekend glamping on the Buffalo river with great friends. Never camped in anything other than a tent, but I could get used to a camper very fast...especially with all the rain. We even had great coffee! #buffaloriver#camping#glamping#crazyhorsecampground
Stillness in the universe does not exist. Everything is moving, constantly changing, an endless pulse of expansion & contraction. Thinking on a quote I jotted down this morning from a podcasts on Rolfing— “There is no balance, there’s just balancing.”
The work is never complete. The work is constant and we are called to realign in every new moment. To surrender to the flow again & again. We are all continual #WIPs. .
We touch balance for minuscule moments only to see it just as quickly leave us. All good. Life is found in the adjustment. The opening back up to guidance. The re-remembering. The play. There is no balance, only balancing💖
