What a special night last night was. It was an honour to be able to sing at a very special Christmas Memorial service at our church. There were so many people there that have lost loved ones over the years and it was so wonderful to be able to come together to remember them, share our grief but also rejoice in hope together of the day when we we will see them again. I sang 3 songs, one of which was “temporary home” by Carrie Underwood. I almost made it through the whole song with no tears until I got to the lyric that said “old man hospital bed. The room is filled with people he loves. And he whispers don’t cry for me, I’ll see you all someday. He looks up and says ‘I can see God’s face’. This was my temporary home. Not where I belong. Windows and rooms, we’re passing through. And this is just a stop on the way to where we’re goin. I’m not afraid because I know. This was my temporary home”. I kinda lost it at that point and had to stop singing as I was thinking about the last time I saw my Grampa and sang with him in his hospital room this past spring. Everyone in the room was so gracious and understanding and it was actually a very cathartic experience. I went on to sing the song I wrote for my Grampa while pictures of him played on the screen and then ended with a video of him singing and playing the guitar I wrote the song about. Even though I was sick, I’m so glad I pushed through and was able to share these special songs with everyone last night. If you’re feeling lonely or missing someone desperately this holiday season, please don’t do it alone. Reach out to a loved one or friend, even message me! I can be a crying shoulder or word of encouragement! We’re all living in this “temporary home” together and it’s important to be there for each other! . .
✨MY SECRET WEAPON✨
DIY FACIAL OIL RECIPE BELOW 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Guys, I get SO many compliments on my skin these days. I’m someone who has suffered from oily skin/acne for YEARS (yes, I did the Accutane thing 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️) and it’s so HARD to struggle with skin problems on a daily basis. I started a few months ago using my leftover oils from soapmaking to make my own lotions, facial oils and creams. I can honestly say my skin has never looked better.
Oils nourish the skin and apparently (I didn’t know this) adding an oil can actually help BALANCE your skins natural oil production (who knew?). I was always under the impression that you had to dry your skin out 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️. This recipe is EASY, AFFORDABLE + ECO FRIENDLY. You don’t have to go out and spend a million $$$ and you can reuse your container over and over again. Check out my recipe below 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 —
1 container of your choosing (I recycled an old Arbonne pump bottle 30 ml size)
GRAPESEED OIL (infused with chamomile + green tea — see my previous post on how to infuse your oils and the host of benefits they deliver) this stuff has natural astringent properties and can help tighten your skin. Chamomile soothes and green tea is loaded with antioxidants.
ROSEHIPSEED OIL (this stuff is just packed with skin-loving fats and great for anti-aging)
AVOCADO OIL (super nourishing and awesome for dry skin)
RED RASPBERRY SEED OIL (offers a natural SPF to help protect your skin)
FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL
PALMAROSA ESSENTIAL OIL
LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL
Using a funnel, fill 1/4 your bottle with the grapeseed infused oils, 1/4 rosehipseed oil, 1/4 red raspberry seed oil, and the remaining 1/4 with your essential oils and avocado oil (I like to use about 10 drops of avocado oil and 10 drops of the essential oils for my skin but it’s up to you how you want to blend them). Mix your oils well and apply to your face. As a rule of thumb, you can apply your facial oil AFTER a water-based moisturizer or by itself (but a water-based moisturizer won’t penetrate if you do it the other way around). You can also change the oils and essential oils to whatever you feel is suitable for your skin type!
