Do something that doesn’t feel like work! See this long story below to see how I became a hair stylist below!
So story time. Everyone always asks their hair stylist how they got into hair so here it goes. The girl on the left, @kreepykoreyy- we used to live together when I was majoring in economics at the University of Nevada (go wolf pack 🤘🏼💙).
I will always remember in high school always getting girls ready but never actually thinking about it as a career. And even into college I would do Koreys long beautiful hair before going out or help her get ready for dates. This became a habit, any girl I lived with always asked me to do their hair. Still, never thought about it- my path was boring economics and I was there for it. It wasn’t until I was 21 and got let go from my first and only time at this coffee shop I worked at. I was out of work for about a month, and it was very discouraging. I cried a lot and felt like I had failed. I was out looking for work constantly when I was applying for a new restaurant on Tahoe street at Midtown in Reno. I remember walking away from the restaurant and seeing this salon, @prettyparlorreno, and remembering so many people telling be about it. One of my friends Hailey worked there as their manager so I figured I’d go say hi. It was beautiful it there and it instantly felt welcoming. I told Hailey what my situation was and she called The boss lady and I was hired. I was there for a few months and I saw how happy people were and how fun being a hair stylist was I dropped out of school and decided to go to cosmetology school. Going from doing Koreys hair in our bathroom to doing her sisters hair for her wedding was nostalgic.. ITS OKAY TO FAIL. It’s okay to feel lost! I found my career path with something I absolutely LOVE by getting let go from a job when I was 21! Life will seem like it’s ending sometimes and that’s okay. You can’t get anywhere if you don’t take the step forward... You will make it where you are supposed to be. 🌹✨
Braiding always. Hi I’m Sarah, and I am a wedding stylist in the San Diego and Reno/Tahoe area. 💙 i have been doing hair for 3 and a half years now. I moved down to San Diego from Reno in May 2018 and have been loving every minute of it. I go up to Reno often still and do hair up there as well for my friends that I don’t live close to anymore. I can’t wait to get my hands back into some color and cutting in San Diego. I just sent in my license transfer in last week! 🙌🏼🙌🏼😍✨
