Currently reading: Watching You by Lisa Jewell. I am halfway through and hooked! I’ve been on vacation since last Thursday and I was in a bit of a reading funk until I picked this up. The book starts out with a murder, but you don’t know who has been murdered. You follow the stories of a bunch of neighbors who all spend time spying on each other and you have to try to figure out who was murdered and who had the motive to murder them. .
. #qotd - where is your favorite place to read? #aotd - I love reading on my front porch (when it’s nice out). In the summer there’s always a nice breeze and a comfy place to sit. Plus there’s an awning so if it gets too hot you can snag a bit of shade.
Enjoying so far my copy of @claudia_gray’s Master and Apprentice! If you are a fan of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, this is the book for you! It has been great to see the dynamic between these two in more than the Prequel movies so I’m excited already to get to the end so I can know more! Look out for a review soon!
Happy Wednesday Book Friends!! 🐝

I’ve read so many beautiful books this year, but This is How It Always Is really resonated with me. I loved Rosie and Penn’s family. The multitude of boys running around saying inappropriate things and sweet Claude who becomes Poppy. It takes quite an author to intermingle hilarious laugh out dialogue with the importance of Claude’s transformation and how he family handles it. What a beautiful heartfelt story.
I listened to the audiobook and @gabracadabranyc’s narration was amazing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I purchased this book from Half Priced Books to read with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. It took me a few chapters to get completely invested in this one, but once it hooks you then you have to finish it. An obsessive King uses his power to get everything he wants from his subjects and if you defy him it only angers him more and death is the final decision. Lei is stolen from her village and forced to be one of the Kings concubines. Her rebellion grows and blossoms but she forms bonds and friendships with the other girls at the palace that may be her saving grace. Until one day it all slowly begins to fall apart and choices that will effect the future of everyone involved must be made and they must be made quickly. I have heard so many good things about this T.V. series, @rachvball11 recommended it to me. But I just knew I needed to read the books first!
Wouldn't you know I found this book at a rummage sale in the FREE box! 😄 Definitely ment to be if you ask me!
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
“What was illegal about them? Their presence? Ana’s effort to make a life for them here? What was it that made her soulful son and her inquisitive daughter so criminal?”
The Affairs of the Falcons by Melissa Rivero tells the story of the Falcon family; Peruvian immigrants struggling to survive in New York City during the 1980’s. I’m blown away that this is Rivero’s first novel. The story she has crafted is so intense and heartbreaking, I had to remind myself to breathe. I’m still reeling.
This is not my story. It’s unimaginable to me what people give up, what people endure, what people survive just for the chance to live in this country. I hope this book will open eyes and hearts. Thank you Stacey @prose_and_palate for another gorgeous recommendation. ❤️📚

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with @kaylasonlyheart. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Always Enough, Never Too Much by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan. This is 2 books in one, 100 devotions for women. While it took us a while to get through this bible study, we did one day at a time, one devotion at a time. We read daily and reflected daily and whether you are feeling you are too much or never enough the ultimate point is you are you. You have your strengths, you have your faults, but you who you are because God made you who he needs you to be, everyday. You know how people sometimes say “I laughed, I cried” after watching a movie or reading story? I’m always a little skeptical whether a movie or a book can really make me feel that wide range of emotions but I miss you when I blink did.
This masterful collection of essays by Mary Laura Philpott ranges from every subject from moving to childhood to marriage and independence and identity. She writes in the most welcoming way that I almost felt as though I was talking with a dear friend in her stories. I found her so completely relatable and at times, I almost felt she was writing from MY life experiences and thoughts.
She’s ridiculously funny and shares anecdotes from her life that literally made me giggle till my tummy hurt. (Ridiculously funny childhood Halloween costumes do it for me) She also candidly shares her struggles and her questions and her vulnerabilities. I can’t remember a book this year that I’ve written so many quotes down from. Her letter to a type A soul spoke to me in a brutiful way.
I just loved this book—and though i borrowed it from the library, I’ve added it to my want to buy list.
I really enjoyed this book! It was so unique, almost like a backwards love story!
Quick Synopsis: When Molly's boyfriend finally proposes, she thinks she has everything she's ever wanted: the guy, the job, the future. Everything feels perfect until her fiancé's debut novel gains popularity and everything that comes along with it.. I loved Palmer's writing style! She somehow got us hooked on not one book, but two! Reading a book within a book was so unique, but added so much to the story. I definitely recommend reading this if you can get your hands on it! 💬 How would you feel if someone close to you wrote a "fiction" novel that seemed a little too real?

👉🏻 Ember Keaton has decided that MAYBE it’s time to grow up and start adult-ing and when her sister offers her a connection, she’s all in — I mean, she’s a little distracted by the hot new neighbor who she hears having sex every night, but other than that — she’s on-board for the adult-ing.
👉🏻 Logan Ardennes is a travel-the-world photographer. He’s home to help his mother out while she’s recovering from surgery. What do you happen to know? Ember becomes his new assistant, thanks to his mom. *THANK YOU MOM*
👉🏻 PLOT TWIST: Nothing like coming face-to-face with the new hot neighbor who can’t seem to ever keep it in his pants. *face palm*

My big mouth has already turned him against me, and tempting good looks and success aside, Trent Turner is no peach either. He’s stubborn and thick-headed, and son of a fruitcake, he thinks he knows everything there is to know about the hotel business.
With him running the development of the new Vanderturn New Orleans Hotel and me doing the design, our work relationship is far too intimate for two people who absolutely despise one another.
But that’s not all.
See, he isn’t just my billionaire boss from hell. He’s my new neighbor, too.

Especially those in the spotlight.
Meeting a Hollywood A-lister isn’t on my bucket list, and falling for one does not suit my plans.
But a biker who hides in the shadows and an actress bathed in neon lights, calls for disaster.
This story isn’t only about finding stability—it’s friendship, conflict, deception and slaughter.
