Hej :-) Macie postanowienia na post, który trwa?
Ja mam dwa, a właściwie miałam dwa ✌
A 2 to mniej przeklinac.
Animals were seen returning to Chernobyl area now and on this happy hopeful note I started reading Chernobyl prayer. But it turned not all what I expected. ....Chernobyl prayer is a collection of monologues of ordinary people in and around Belarus affected by the most disastrous nuclear tragedy that happened on April 1986. ...The author, a journalist provide a real bone chilling oral accounts of the survivors of the disaster. The accounts of fireman & servicemen who had to go in first were the most chilling.I guess hero is a small word to describe them. The aftermath of what they had to deal with cant be helped by the medals they got. ....What punched me in the gut was the normalcy with which the people were reacting. As they were evacuated, they made notes to personal coming to clean up asking them to take care. Most of them even came back. It was their home where else would they go. Everything was contaminated & had to be destroyed. Even breast milk was radioactive...Seemed stranger than fiction, a truly post apocalyptic world.
.... Each monologue had something more to say. Newborn taking all radiation, Pets killed, people excluded, kids talking about death, even relatives not taking people in & Cancer in all forms all these are told to us in brave voices of the survivors. ....Chernobyl coincided with the fall of communism & how people started thinking of God & religion. This became the icon of what was wrong in Soviet Union & played a part in independence of Ukraine. ...This is one of horrific depressing yet utterly moving book I have ever read. I had to stop reading at times to take in all those emotions. I want all to read this to know how a disaster like that wipe off a whole town and a whole generation. No medal no certificate can ever show what human endurance can actually do.

QOTD: What smell (apart from obvious one of paper) associates with reading to you?
I personally don't have just one, but I like to drink tea while reading, so smell of my favorite ones reminds me of books. Also, basically any smell of candles that I own, cauze my room smells like them and mostly I read in my bed 😄
#currentlyreading : #thebinding by #bridgetcollins . this was an impulse buy when i was in berlin with @abysseuse - look at the cover, it’s hard to resist. i was instantly intrigued and dived right into the story. i’m a bit miffed that basically the first third of the book was plainly spoiled by the information given on the back of it, which is something i hate. it takes from the guessing and wondering that you do at the beginning of a new story, in my opinion. apart from that, it’s a solid read so far. what’s a book that you felt spoiled parts of the story due to the info given on the back? 🌻
Review of "HALF LOST" by Sally Green 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Oh, how long I wanted to read this book!
The first part came into my life by accident, saw it at library and loved the cover, so I gave it a try. After that I was eager to read second part, but had to wait about a year for that. Was worth it because "HALF WILD" made bigger impression that "HALF BAD" did. So naturally the story line created some expectations for last book in the trilogy. And, to be honest, I am not disappointed even though the ending destroyed me!
Even if it wasn't too easy to catch up with the story line because it's been about 3 years since I read "HALF WILD", but with little help of internet I remembered most of the things that happened. Yet, the thing that I did forgot was how annoying Nathan can be at times. So at the start of "HALF LOST" that boy really got on my nerves. But that didn't latest long and soon I got so hooked that I just couldn't put the book away.
One of the thinfs I admire in the story is the scientific mix with magic. I haven't seen much of that in other books, so I wanted to read more of the experiments that Wallend tried on other witches. Yet, what I wanted even more - Gabriel! Hell, I loved that boy. Definitely my favorite character, he was like a living form of light that Nathan had in himself. They fit together so perfectly! And what happened to Gabriel... to both of the guys. That was one hell of the ending! I cried and I hated, and I loved it! It hurt to see Nathan so devastated, but the way he found a way to connect to his soulmate - that was so beautiful and the dedication to each other... just wow! 🖤
It was a strong ending. And Edge... I understand the author wanted someone to carry Marcus and Nathan legacy, also to show how everything went full circle and came back to a little boy and a murderer father somewhere in the wild. After all, we started the story with that, seems fitting to finish like that as well. The only thing what story didn't needed was Donna. #GuTReadingTime

I don't know what's wrong with me lately, but I just don't seem to be liking these popular books everyone is loving. I had high hopes for THE AU PAIR, but it really had me on struggle street. I persisted because I was interested in the mystery, but everything felt forced and like it was trying too hard to avert attention towards the folklore & 'sprite' storyline (which obviously wasn't going to be possible) that when the twists were revealed it felt a bit meh. I also found Seraphine really babyish & irritating. 😂 But in saying that, I loved the moody, atmospheric setting which was perfect for the weather this weekend! 🌧️ There were also parts I did feel genuinely invested so it is definitely not all bad, just not my cup of tea. 3🌟 V grateful to have been gifted a copy by @hachetteaus 💗 Head over to @linesiunderline for a more positive review!! 👈😉 •
👉 Obsessing over my @thedogmum tee 😍 Is there a more accurate description of me? Nope. Not spon/gifted (although not gonna lie, would love the pink one 😜) just supaaa cute & comfy aka my ideal situation 'cause pjs aren't appropriate to wear in public.
