I love seeing a character grow and evolve, throughout the story or series. Two really good examples are The Lost Queen by Signe Pike and Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart. Have you read these? What did you think? • 👑 •
I love experiencing a character develop through a series. It’s like I’m on the journey with them and I expect that they will learn and mature as time goes on.
The characters in the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima do this over 4 books. There are two main characters Han and Raisa.
Raisa starts out as the princess of the Kingdom destined to be Queen. She is young and wants to be like Hanalea, the legendary warrior queen.
Her time is divided in the beginning between meeting her mother’s demands to meet her obligations of her Queendom, and training with her father’s Clan in the mountains to be a warrior. Raisa believes in doing what’s right for her people - “but her mother has other plans for her - plans that will put the queendom and Raisa’s future in great danger”. ..
When the adventures of the two main characters (Han and Raisa) collide, then the adventure takes off.
Will Raisa become Queen? Will she fight for her people? What influence will Han, a reformed thief play in this journey.
The Exiled Queen is the second book in this series - read the Demon King first.

Today was the last day of my work week before my mini vacation to Chicago!
Which of course meant that I got a bunch of new tasks in about 30 minutes before I had to leave! But it all turned out really well, and I ended up having a really interesting week.
#bookreadhappyhour - Guns for show, knives for a pro
The Red Queen series is all about interesting weapons and powers. Also, Evangeline is an expert in knives.
Books # 6-8, 11, 19-21, 23, 28, and
The Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris
I did a 4th reread of the original 8 books in the Aurora Teagarden series and a 2nd reread of book 9 so I could dive into the newest, book 10.
Unfortunately @realcharlaine isn't contracted for more books but I hope someday for there to be more.
I'll never forget meeting her 10 years ago and asking her for more books and then 3 years ago I got my wish!
Always a favorite series of mine and @iowabluejay
Time to brag... I started a facebook group a few years ago (very creatively) titled Book Challenge by Erin (link in bio). I’d participated in other book challenges, but I wanted to use the social media connections and shares to create a space for book lovers to come together, interact, and encourage each other. At the time, it was mostly personal friends, a few family members, and a handful of blogger buddies.
This group has grown into something I never imagined. We have 534 group members and more in an additional goodreads group. We are international with challenge participants from Australia, America, India, the Caribbean, Canada, Switzerland, England, Scotland, and Germany.
We have readers who are speed demons and some that are truly challenged to read 10 books in 4 months. We welcome them all.
And take a look at this latest feat... this is the 10th go of Book Challenge by Erin. In just over 3 months, our group has read 1000+ books and we’re still going. Incredible!

☠ Grave's Peak Review By Ruby on June 5, 2018 💖
Format: Kindle Edition
Grave's Peak was a refreshing read, one that would appeal to both teen and adult readers. It is what I would consider a short read but it was long enough to enjoy while sunning on the porch. I enjoyed the style of writing which was a clean narrative without excessive dialogue or confusing backstory.
The protagonist, Messyfeed, is a self proclaimed realist who's skeptical view of legends and magic are brought to epic proportion as she embarks on a mission to uncover the reason of her grandfather's disappearance and the secret's hiding in her own town. After discovering her grandfather's journal placed suspiciously in her belongings, the protagonist reads a small note left inside. The enchanted note pulls Messyfeed through a time warp and as she grapples with the shock of time travel she finds that she has an ally in the future. Still shaken Messyfeed finds solace in her childhood home where she is able to delve deeper into the journal her grandfather left behind to guide her. In the journal is the story of the illusive and centuries old Jack Deville as well as the tragic and mysterious legend surrounding Grave's Peak. I'm looking forward to the follow up book to continue Messyfeed's journey!
The great thing about the #BNmadisonwest#BookChallenge is you get to see what our staff is reading and hopefully give you some new books to add on your To Read List. Sarah satisfied our one-word title challenge this month by reading CARAVAL by Stephanie Garber. For fans of THE NIGHT CIRCUS and THE HUNGER GAME, CARAVAL is sure to be a mesmerizing delight! #bnmidwest
Tomorrow is World Water Day, and in celebration of that The Oyster Thief by Sonia Faruqi is $1.99 on kindle! Thank you to @pegasus_books for sending me this finished copy!
And because World Water Day is celebrating the importance of water, I've also put some other great water centric stories in this photo, you can't see them all so make sure you check out Song of the Current, Dark Shores (water is important but NOT a pirate book), Pacifica, and Daughter of the Siren Queen.
Both these gorgeous book sleeves are from @loveyoumorestudio! They just released some awesome new fabrics! I'm not formally a rep anymore BUT you can still save with my code FEAR10!
