It’s Sweet D’s first birthday!!! (Technically yesterday but shhhhhh) Are blog birthdays a thing? I hope so. I can’t believe how time flies when you’re having a fricken blast, and I love every single one of you for following along and being so wonderful. To celebrate, I made these cutie baby princess cakes from @mollyyeh with almond cake, raspberry jam, whipped cream, all under a cozy lil cover of marzipan. Also, if you feel so inclined, Sweet D got a fresh faced update and I would simply love your thoughts. The recipe for these mini princess cakes is up now on Sweet D! Xoxoxoxoxo

The solution to all of life’s problems... chocolate and salt.
Not in full baking mode yet, but just released my first batch of every changing pantry items over at @ivory.iron. The best, organic ingredients infused with more of the best, organic ingredients. Basically my favorite thing ever. Head over the @ivory.iron for all the good stuff!
I finally carved out some time to get back into the kitchen, and all is right in the world. Never quite myself unless I’m tinkering with ingredients and playing with recipes. I’m excited to have listed some some limited stock creations in the pantry (link in profile!) for nationwide shipping. This is how it all started, you guys! You’ll be the first to know when I add new items - unique pantry staples im obsessed with at the moment/must haves in my everyday kitchen. This pretty jar is my Earl Grey & Lavender Sugar that we’ve been infusing into our iced coffee every morning.
Sourcing organic raw ingredients is an obsession, so when I get to share them with you, it’s even better. Every good recipe starts with the best ingredients. Elevating something simple is what I do best, so here are my current favorites that Adam and I are loving. Make sure to grab it if you see it, there’s only a handful of each and flavors/items will rotate seasonally or when I feel like something new (let’s face it, that’s all the time!). Get shopping - I can’t wait to share them with you!

@pastryschiff swears by olive oil💫, salt 🧂, chili 🌶 flake and a basic sheet pan.
Toss your favorite veggies in the oil, salt and chili flake. Spread them on a sheet pan, giving them plenty of room. Roast at 400 for about 25 minutes until deep golden brown. These cauliflower came out as a dead ringer for deep fried 😋! #fdambassador#freshdirect@freshdirect
The bad news is, I hate washing glaze out of cooling racks. But the good news is, I built this doughnut tower - so my glass is definitely half full. ✨🍩✨

Hey friends! I just realized that it’s been over TWO YEARS since I did any sort of introduction on here.
There is an actual lady behind all those cake ball and cake pop photos!
My name is Alli ( @adorkable_alli ) and here is a selfie from a good angle with a good filter, you can swipe to see how I am 99% of the time 😊
I wanna share a few quick facts about myself for those who don’t know me:
1. I met my husband on Twitter
2. Even though I love to bake, I love doing rounds of @whole30 to balance all out all those sweets
3. I studied journalism in college but I didn’t become a journalist. I love telling stories and learning about people, though, and I want to incorporate that into my blog and upcoming YouTube channel for the bakery.
4. My first job was being an “annoying picture taker” at Kings Island
5. People who meet me now tend to think I’m shy (at first) or don’t talk a lot (at first), but I talked 24/7 as a kid and teenager. My family thinks it’s funny when people tell them I’m quiet
Now it’s your turn! Tell me a fact or two about you!
In an ode to our sourthern roots, we bring you our ⚡️ FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH ⚡️ crispy fried chicken, housemade sesame bun, homemade bread and butter pickles, cilantro, sweet onions, jalapeño, and a housemade maple mustard sauce. People ask me fairly often what my favorite kitchen tools are and without hesitation, I always say a fish spatula (I use mine for SO much more than fish), and a mandoline, which I used to thinly shave a bunch of leftover vegetables to roast into these herby, garlicky chips. More on this, soon. 👌🏻

Back stateside mates. 🇬🇧❤️ London you were a treat: your shows, history, quaint streets, proper pubs, accents, tubes and double deckers (love that their metro cards are called oysters), afternoon teas, chips, tipples...Could’ve done without the food poisoning at the end there but all in all a bloody good trip. 😂 Now don’t mind me as I’ll be over here working on my application to Hogwarts.

• F O R E S T • foraged goodness! Idny, how you know these things is truly amazing. You’ve shown me that a woman that looks like me can take to the woods and find food in nature and drop mad knowledge about it too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not only is this super delicious is also really quite beautiful, as you can see here. I couldn’t resist taking photos of this beautiful product. Check out my latest recipe post to see how I incorporated this beautiful salt of the earth. Link in bio! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Love and light ✨
my favorite part about Instagram is the connections that I’ve gotten to make OFFLINE with wonderful humans I’ve met through this platform. yesterday, i went to @_mamannyc_ with @sunflower_inthecity — a dear friend I’ve made thanks to IG — and we sat and chatted about ambition, passions, and values for more than two hours. THAT is what keeps me excited about Instagram, knowing that it’s a platform that allows us to share and express the things that we care about, and connect with others who have overlapping interests and passions.
What keeps you excited about Instagram? The content you get to share? The people you’ve met? Something else entirely?

A side-by-side comparison of old-fashioned (upper right) and chocolate (bottom left) pecan pies for the sake of science. It seems like the votes of my coworkers and the votes currently taking place in my Instagram Stories poll are conflicting so I think from now on I’ll just have to make both flavors for all people. And now I’m wondering if it would be possible to make one pie that is half of each flavor. Hmm... 🤔 #kbckitchen#pecanpie

set yourself up for a refreshing week with growlers of the good stuff: available by the 4-pack for nationwide delivery! 📦 💛 #rachelsgingerbeer
still one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. I still remember the day I took it clearly. it was a cloudy Sunday afternoon in March. I was on the verge of delirium with what would be one of the worst bouts of flu I’ve ever had. bit of an odd precedent I set for myself that day because turns out being in a sick, weakened state yields some of my best work. 😂 I had Funny Face on in the background (I’m not usually into musicals but I adore anything Audrey, duh). ⠀
My whole kitchen was perfumed with sweet roasted strawberries and spring was on the horizon. I like looking back at past photographs I’ve shot, not just to reminisce on the content itself, but the moments surrounding it. Where I was at, the dreams I had, the dreams I’ve achieved since, and the things I still want to learn and improve on. Because we’re all just a work in progress, right? What’s something you want to get better at this year? I want to focus on taking less photos, and nailing the shot quicker. I have a tendency to take waaaaay too many just to be sure I’ve “got it”. 🤷🏽♀️⠀
(these are roasted strawberry rhubarb yogurt parfaits from the archives. can you tell I have spring on the brain? 🙈)
Friends! Thank you sooo much for all of your orders of my sweet treats 🍩🍦🧁🍰🍪 and being patient with me while I figure out all-the-things with my website 🤓📱 (seriously running this all from my phone while driving from the Okanagan was CA-RAZAY!! 🤪🤪)

The only thing I ate today were pancakes—yep, even for dinner. This was made with chickpea flour, topped with a kale + fennel slaw, and drizzed with herb tahini.

This roasted squash with sriracha yogurt and a garlicky cilantro paste blew my lid off! I'm super picky about squash but this recipe was SO good. Plenty of bright, fun flavors to balance the sweetness of the squash. Thanks to @abcoba and @booklarder for a great lunch break class today! Squash recipe from #plentymorecookbook by @ottolenghi. ✨
#30cakesfor30 I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” Martin Luther King, Jr. 💕🎂🎀🧸.
Hate is too great a burden to bear. And I often wonder how people walk around with the weight of hate. And I feel bad for them and pray that they can experience love and see the world and it’s people in love. .
I often see this hate on the internet. The comments people leave, the tweets and posts, it’s too much to read thru. At one point, I had a rule to not read ANY comments on posts that had anything to do with Muslims. Especially when I was in them🙈it was self preservation and I just didn’t want to walk around thinking people had so much hate in them. .
But today we celebrate love and truth. And the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 💕🙏🏼

Salted roasted smoked almonds gave my usual homemade hummus a nice smoky twist. I've been using it as a dip for carrots and pita chips, but it makes a great spread on sandwiches. Recipe link in profile.
