I just spent 6 days alone in Kauai and here’s why:
A couple weeks ago, I got an unexpected opportunity to photograph my first ever destination wedding on this beautiful island! 😱 This trip has been nothing short of amazing and I’m SO grateful for the people that believed in me enough to make it happen.
Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Darnall!! Until next time, Kauai! 🌴🤙🏼
I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go,my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet)I want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart). Photos @otilupulescu -

They had a really important roll in their friend's wedding, they were unconditional support for her, they cheered up the party like nobody, they shared lots of feelings toward @beamontejo that day, they laughed and cried, they danced, they prepared surprises...!! They were the perfect bridesmaid all you would want on your wedding day. Olé you!!! 😊
Hey guys! So, I know some of you read what I posted yesterday about trying to find a balance with social media. I posted it because I wanted to be transparent about something I seriously do struggle with, hoping that I wasn’t the only one. I really wasn’t looking for advice, but through the feedback I’ve received, it has come to my attention that this topic is something I’d really like to talk more about.
For those of you who keep up with me, you know that I’ve discussed social media a lot this past year. A couple of months ago, @wanderingweddings did an IG live with me while I was still running Rad Storytellers (no, it’s not up anymore, but you can still use the hashtag #radstorytellers) and we kind of hit on why/how social media can be helpful/hurtful to photographers (or businesses using social media in general). I by no means know everything (clearly), and I am still learning/growing every day. What I do want you guys to know is that even though I understand the rules/logistics of running social media, it’s still not always easy for me to implement those or be consistent with it - for a number of reasons, but mostly because I’m busy with life. You can do all of the research you want. You can watch all of the videos & tutorials you want. You can read all of the books & articles you want. You can go to all of the workshops you want. That’s knowledge attained, but I want to execute what I know. Basically, I feel like I don’t have enough time to do that. Life unfortunately does not give you more time, so you have to manage the time you have. And well, I just haven’t been doing that great with the social media part of my business as of lately (but I want to). This has zero to do with my personal worth or my confidence as an artist. This is just about me wanted to utilize social media for my business. I still “post for me”, but I no doubt want post work that other people will connect with too.
With all of that being said, I just wanted to send some encouragement your way and say that it doesn’t matter if you’ve been doing this for 10 years or 10 days - we are all persevering through the same stuff. Maybe at different levels, but nonetheless the same stuff.
I have a love hate relationship with social media at times. This past winter Zach and I sat down and decided we were going to live a more present and intentional life. We stopped endlessly scrolling, we put our phones down, we took the chargers away from our nightstand, we sold a lot of stuff and minimized our life. It felt great it felt freeing, but a lot of it only lasted a few months. Comparison is the killer of creativity and self worth and social media amplifies it. So many times have I had to stop scrolling and remind myself that I don’t need to compare myself, my work, and my life to someone else’s highlight reel ( I know I can’t be the only one.) I’m also super guilty of being on the other side too, for a good couple of years I got so caught up in creating a better version of myself online hoping that I would feel better in real life. ɪғ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ʜᴇʀᴇ ɴᴏᴡ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ɪᴛs ᴏᴋᴀʏ ᴛᴏ ғᴇᴇʟ ʟᴏsᴛ ɪɴ ɪᴛ . Part of me wishes I grew up before the comparison game but part of me is glad I’m in the now. My business would be nothing without social media, it’s my voice, it’s how I’ve met so many amazing people, it’s how I met my husband; It’s a double edged sword. This upcoming year I will be working on taking my social media outlets and making it more personal, more real, more me.

Soft and ethereal, with exquisite and intricately placed embroidery in a rich color palette, which is folkloric in feeling. This is a #timeless Temperley statement Bridal piece."
we always try to create a little bubble of trust between our couples so that they can feel comfortable to be themselves. to embrace their awkwardness, to show us their dorky side, allowing us to document how they really are as if cameras weren't in front of their faces. ⠀
this moment was just that. every time we were going to tell them to do something they were already busy being their cute self. we quickly learned to shut up and just let them be. ⠀
