The story behind this photo is one that I am honored to be able to share. •
This family booked me for a mini session last year. Date picked, retainer paid, evrything. Unfortunately as the date drew closer for their session Carlos' mom fell ill. Understandably they weren't up to taking photos at that time and I agreed to reschedule. Sadly Carlos lost his mom just a few days later. •
It was a pleasure to have Gaby reach out to me a couple of months ago to book again this year. They were ready now, though there was a hole in their hearts. I was looking forward to meeting them and giving hugs to a family I hadn't met but had been thinking about for a year. I finally got the chance this past weekend and it was everything I hoped for and more- so much more. •
I've been shooting at this location quite a bit, especially lately. Never once had I seen a Blue Jay during any of my time there. But during their session this bird came and landed right by Gaby, Carlos, and their beautiful daughter. It stayed right by us the entire session- in trees, right the ground- always close by. I felt in my heart that it was Carlos' mom, but didn't know how to vocalize that. Towards the end of the session we walked to a different tree, in a different spot, and again the Blue Jay followed. •
I couldn't hold it back anymore. I told them that I felt like his mom was with them and they all agreed. Carlos wondered if he could get the bird to walk onto his hand, so he simply laid his hand on the branch and waited. Within probably a minute the bird hopped around and landed right by Carlos. Then it calmly walked right. into. his. hand. •
There are no words to describe how it felt to witness this short but powerful moment for Carlos. But it was profoundly beautiful. I pray it brought healing to him and to their family to be reminded that she will always be near them. I am beyond humbled to have captured this miracle for them. In a time where we celebrate things we are thankful for, it was a subtle reminder that some times things we can be thankful for aren't things at all. •
Thank you to Carlos for allowing me to share this photo and your story.
[ English ⬇️ ] 🐦Laissez moi vous raconter une anecdote...🌬️
🐦Let me tell you a story...🌬️
A few month ago, I was biking and lost my hat feathers in the wind...I was kind of sad 😞..and also didn't know where to find new ones..but I said, for the one who can wait...universe always brings its answer on time.
On Nov 27th, I'll release a new music video online that we shot earlier in October and guess what...⁉️
Right under my foot was this beautiful blue jay feather for my hat 🤠😲
