Our Record of the Week is a reissue of the 1980 debut album from Dexys Midnight Runners. “Searching for the Young Soul Rebels” is an energetic, soulful pop record with a punkish attitude, well worth checking out for anybody who missed it the first time round! It features the hit-single “Geno”, which topped the UK singles chart.
The group famously stole the master tapes to this album on the final day of recording, holding them ransom until record label EMI upped the group’s royalties percentage!! In the first song of Astral Weeks Van Morrison sings about being born again, and it is quite fitting. This is one of those albums that for a long time I just couldn't get into, but then one day it just clicked, and suddenly there was this completely changed and reborn record spinning on my turntable. Great feeling.
🎤Van the man! "Caravan", from the movie, "The Last Waltz", as performed by The Band and company. Iconic guest performances all around during the movie; Eric Clayton, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, and the list goes on. This one just does it for me the most...the whole song, although I think I provided you with a special 60 seconds⏱🎶👌
Just got back from picking up Thierry Condors new album “City Nights“ at manufacturing, incl. a vinyl cut for our collection. Signed some personal copies and the rest of the CDs are now on their way to distribution. Three more weeks and they can be yours!

“Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE (born May 5, 1988) is an English singer-songwriter. After graduating from the BRIT School in 2006, Adele signed a recording contract with XL Recordings. In 2007, she received the Brit Awards Critics' Choice award and won the BBC Sound of 2008 poll. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 to commercial and critical success. It is certified eight times platinum in the UK, and three times platinum in the US. The album contains her first song, "Hometown Glory", written when she was 16, which is based on her home suburb of West Norwood in London. An appearance she made on Saturday Night Live in late 2008, boosted her career in the US. At the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on 5 May 1988 in Tottenham, London, to an English mother, Penny Adkins, and a Welsh father, Marc Evans. Evans left when Adele was two, leaving her mother to raise her. She began singing at age four and asserts that she became obsessed with voices. In 1997, at the age of nine, Adele and her mother, who by then had found work as a furniture maker and an adult-learning activities organiser, relocated to Brighton on the south coast of England. In 1999 she and her mother moved back to London; first to Brixton, then to the neighbouring district of West Norwood in south London. Adele graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006, where she was a classmate of Leona Lewis and Jessie J. Adele credits the school with nurturing her talent even though, at the time, she was more interested in going into A&R and hoped to launch other people's careers.” @adele Photo 1 and 2 by Annie Leibovitz for @vogue ••• #adele#singer#songwriter#vocalist#popularmusic#blueeyedsoul#19#hometownglory#tottenham#londonuk#womeninmusic#annieleibovitz#photosofmusicians#musicphotography#musicians#music#musicmemory#musicsmemory#musichistory
