#marchforourlives My signs: “Gun and police violence or not separate conversations. RIP Stephon Clark”. 🖤✊🏽 “Gun reform in communities of color must be discussed/enacted just as urgently“. 🖤✊🏽 Looking out for Brown and Black lives. 🖤✊🏽 #blacklivesmatter#GunViolence#PoliceViolence#StephonClark#TamirRice#PhilandoCastile#AltonSterling#RekiaBoyd#DecynthiaClements#LaquanMcDonald#KorrynGaines and many other Brown, Indigenous, Black, and undocumented humans who are killed by gun violence and not even counted because of the dehumanization of these communities. We should be listening to the community activists/organizers in communities of color that have been calling for and offering great solutions (that don’t further incriminate and contribute to the dehumanization and destruction of POC) to the gun violence in general that has plagued poor communities of color for decades that the government and our mainstream society and media has largely ignored. Include them. Listen to them. Amplify them. Care. ✊🏽🖤
We shouldn’t have to keep making signs to express our grief, anger and frustration but yet we do because the work to liberate our people from tyranny MUST continue. We remember the life of Stephon Clark who was gunned down by Sacramento PD. WE STILL MATTER!
We MUST take steps to ensure our children grow up. Irresponsible policy and ignorance has made them vulnerable. Stop thinking it won’t happen to you or your family because that is not certain when their safety is being gambled by our elected officials. We have allowed this devastation to be just another day in America, just another hashtag we tweet with thoughts and prayers and move on, and that is unconscionable. Kids deserve safe access to education. Children must survive their childhoods and thrive in their adulthood so they can shape a better world than what we know now.
No more Columbines. No more Sandy Hooks. No more Majory Stoneman Douglas’. No more institutions of education being known for the mass murders that occur there. These kids are going to change this world, make sure you are on the right side of history 🌿 || #marchforourlives#votemidterms#guncontrol#parkland#emmagonzalez#savelives#childrenarethefuture#audrelorde#rowanblanchard#quotes#historyhasitseyesonyou#thoughtsandprayersarenotenough#policychangenow#childrenslivesmatter#blacklivesmatter#gunviolence#Repost@rowanblanchard with @get_repost
Training back from the DC @marchforourlives; came across this Audre: “Our children cannot dream unless they live, they cannot live unless they are nourished, and who else will feed them the real food without which their dreams will be no different from ours? ‘If you want us to change the world someday, we at least have to live long enough to grow up!’ shouts the child.” The children are shouting We want to, literally, live long enough to grow up. Please listen. 🌱
Today, we celebrate the courageous kids and their supporters who took action in the #MarchForOurLives. We also recognize while the organizers from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school have been very intentional about signal-boosting marginalized voices and building solidarity with other movements, many of those movements still aren’t getting the attention they deserve. The #MarchForOurLives is about ALL people who have suffered loss and live in fear due to gun violence.

It just pisses me off because Black young men have been out here dying for YEARS but this country could give two shits but awh it’s all hell when a PREDOMINATELY WHITE school gets shot up and ALL non POC (refereeing to anyone whose not black) die. No I’m not taking away from this protest but look. I AM A BLACK STUDENT IN AMERICA. And the chances of me being shot by a police versus being shot by a school shooter are WAYYYY higher. So where is the uproar about this? Where is the protest for my life as A BLACK TEEN. It’s crazy because it isn’t there. How many young black peoples have to die before this country realizes RACISM STILL EXISTS. I am not taking away from the protest, that is not my intention, my heart pours out to those kids, my outrage lies in even if these kids achieve their goal, as a BLACK student in America I will still be in fear for my life, and I feel like when I tag this imma get some backlash lmao but . #BLACKLIVESMATTER#WHEREISOURFIGHT#marchforourlives
"In just a few weeks’ time, we, the youth of the United States, have built a new movement to denounce gun violence and call for safety in all of our communities. And this is only the beginning." #EmmaGonzalez writes our March cover story — a rallying cry for all of America's children. “ @teenvogue x @favianna1 ❤️💙😆
