A bird of prey flew majestically over my head this morning and landed in a tree nearby. I took some pics and wanted to catch it in flight so I waited ages for it to fly again, which it eventually did, but not until I looked down to try and zoom the camera in 🤔 #birdofprey#birdofpreyphotography#nature#naturephotography
“Eagle World” (14+14a+14b+14c+14d+14e+14f+14g+14h+14i) … Meet “Kamtjatka” ... The amazing Steller’s sea eagle with its eagle falconer at “dinner time” 🦅🐥🦅
(Steller's sea eagles are native to eastern Russia, specifically, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Kamchatka Peninsula. They are frequent winter migrants south to the Japanese Islands of Kuril and Hokkaido and have been seen as far south as eastern China and Korea. Vagrant individuals have also been spotted in Taiwan and the US.
Steller's sea eagles (in Latin: Haliaeetus pelagicus) are large eagles with dark brown to black feathers on the majority of the body and white on the shoulders, thighs, and crown. They have wedged-shaped, white tails, very large yellow beaks, and sharp, yellow talons. Average mass is 6 kilograms in males and 9 kilograms in females. Body length of both males and females ranges between 85 and 94 centimeters with average wingspans The wingspan is from 1.95 (males) to +2.5 m (females). The sea eagle's wingspan is one of the largest of any living eagle ... and this female eagle (named “Kamtjatka”) from my photo shoot do actually have a wingspan up to +2.5 m.
Being an eagle falconer requires a lot … both physically, but also mentally. The birds have their own will and can never be forced to do anything. It always goes on their premises.
"Eagle World" - The Eagle's National Park in Denmark (in Danish it’s called “Ørnereservatet”) is located in the northern part of Jutland in Denmark, called Skagen.
National parks have become a current concept in Denmark in recent years, and not least for the “Eagle World”, it is significant as the eagles and the place fully live up to the name. I can highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting that part of Denmark ... see more info about the Eagles World on www.eagleworld.dk 🦅).
