I’m incredibly privileged to be surrounded and supported by so many amazing women
On this WCW I invite you to follow my IG stories to learn more about those women
Each day in the month of December I’ll be highlighting two women from my #oisellevolée team who have inspired me in 2018
It’s been a year of incredible experiences and changes I didn’t see coming. Each of these women had an impact and I want you to know why I’m grateful for having them in my life

Chilly outside today so I’m choosing to remember the 🔥🔥🔥that was the #bigbirdcamp dance party. My limbo game is still (somewhat) on point. 📸: @jesssbarnard
👋🏻 Hey! It’s been awhile! I took some much needed time off to mentally and physically re-set. I’m not completely there yet, but a little closer (these #bigbirdcamp disco spandos, new shoes, and cooler temps help 😍). I’ve been struggling with my ATM performance all week and second guessing whether I should have just sucked it up and pushed the pace I trained for in the humidity. I know I did what I thought was best in the moment, but that doesn’t negate the disappointment of running almost 1 minute per mile slower than I had trained for... The race is behind me now and it’s time to look forward and focus on the pure enjoyment of running. Maybe a last minute November Half will be added to the calendar?! 📆 #headupwingsout 🏃🏼♀️
While at #BigBirdcamp, I participated in @drmelodymoore’s session on the body-love-movement where we were paired up with people who we shared the derogatory words about ourselves that we usually keep to ourselves.
That exorcism, if you will, not only lightened my soul but connected me with another. I got to meet teammate Teddy Brooks, and as the initial awkwardness of looking deep into the eyes of someone you don’t know melted away, so did a new confidence rise.
Now we’re making plans to meet up in NYC. And that’s how we turn vinegar into wine. ❤️ #oisellevolée
Some days you may not be feeling the rockstar vibes, but you gotta push through to the other side😎
For instance, all I wanted to do during this picture was curl up in my bunk bed 🛏 at #BigBirdCamp because of my stomach virus🤢...but I made the choice to model one of the hottest crop tops around instead🤩
Also loving the new @goodr line of shades! The “Breakfast Run To Tiffany’s” enables me to balance my work life & run life in style💁🏽♀️

I recently sat in on a writing session with @fleshmanflyer and left inspired to start putting pen to paper again
Let me show you a place I love…
We enter a stadium where the best and brightest have been. We gather here for what some see as a workout, with stairs, and squats and if we are lucky a plank or a burpee
But I see so much more…
-A mom who is trying to hold her family together but in the early morning hours she sweats out the stresses of life
-An artist struggling to find his place in LaLa Land who comes here for an hour of solitude
-A woman training for her biggest race who needs this hour with friends that understand her drive
-The creative who captures the soul of tribe, then shares it with the world
-The one who is slower, getting a high five from everyone who passes her
-The fast one who encourages you to push a little longer
-The woman whose body won’t give her a break, yet she shows up each week with the loudest cheer
-The dad with sweat running down his face using fitness to fight the demons from creeping in
-The doctor who dances to beat of every tune with each step she climbs
-The student who feels alone, but here feels the love of a family
I see you, and you belong. Each of you are the heart and soul of my Wednesday
Just show up, and keep coming back. I’ll be looking for you.

At @oiselle’s #bigbirdcamp a couple of weeks ago I was asked how we raise our daughters to be strong, confident, self-lovers. I didn’t know the answer to it then, but after thinking about it I think the answers simple: we be strong, confident, self-lovers so they have someone to mimic.
I grew up in a family that didn’t put much emphasis on looks. My sister used to tell me ‘men like something to grab onto’ as encouragement not to conform to the elite distance body. My mom and I went out for an indulgent Italian dinners 5 of 7 nights of the week, always ending with the same question: ‘do you want dessert?’ Throughout most of life under my mom’s roof I lived in a beautiful bubble that I was perfect the way I was, whatever way that was. And I wasn’t the popular kid, or the smart kid, or the beautiful kid, or the artsy kid. I was just a kid, growing up in a really accepting environment, with two strong, confident, self-loving role models.
While unpacking some of my medal’s yesterday;
my nephew “wow you have a lot of medals”
me “I know people who have 10x this many”
him “they probably have too many”
and that is a reminder from a 12 year old not to compare yourself to others.
One of the lessons I’m trying to learn from #bigbirdcamp don’t minimize your achievements. I haven’t run as fast or far or as many races as others BUT that doesn’t mean it was “just a slow half marathon.” It was still this body taking me 21k, and that is pretty amazing. #runtraining

I’m on Kara’s insta 🤩 sitting right in front her doing some fangirling. It was a lovely book signing, so raw and real and I feel lucky to have been there.
That time @re_beckey and I showed up to a local race in our matching @salomonrunning trail shoes from @oiselle Big Bird Camp. And I remembered all of the tips from @catberad (hips forward, chest open, drive with your heels hiking...). But somehow I cut the course short. Also, it is officially time to retire my favourite wool base layer. May you rest in peace oba blue wazzie wool base layer #OiselleVolée#bigbirdcamp#vtlife
Leave the sport better than you found it
I spent a lot of time last weekend at Birdcamp thinking about this.
How can I make an impact?
I’m not the fastest, nor do I have a success story to tell.
But I DO have a fire to bring women together, helping them see the strength within
Then, at a fashion show I saw @fleshmanflyer modeling the new team logo and I gasped for air. It was then it all hit me..this is where I belong
When I first came to running I completely felt like an outsider, but over time, through various paths I’ve found my way to to the Volée team and I knew I was home
As an area leader of this team, I’m recommitting to making other women on my team feel they belong. And not just in theory, but to really feel it. I have a pretty big vision of being a guide, a cheerleader, a creator of healthy team environment, a support system; all to help my team soar
To my LA team..get ready. We are women and we’re here to stay...

@hmcwhirter captured this gorgeous shot of some of us on our long run at @oiselle#bigbirdcamp two weeks ago and I love that it shows women in sync, working together toward something while enjoying each other’s company. I whole-heartedly believe sports can change lives...especially the lives of girls and women. And I’m thankful for moments like this to remind me of what sport has done for me. Today, Oiselle unveiled a new video that serves as a stunning representation of how it’s doubling down on efforts to ensure all women have the opportunity to reap the positive, life-enhancing benefits of sports, and taking steps to ensure nothing is in our way. To get inspired, watch this video: (“Oiselle New School” on YouTube since IG doesn’t link).
I'm so excited that I can finally share this photo. Check out all the amazing stuff going on over @oiselle.#OiselleNewSchool#TBT to #BigBirdcamp and finding my renewed excitement about the @chimarathon. I have been working on breaking the 6 hour mark for this marathon all summer and have had quite a few set backs. Hearing @karagoucher talk about how she has dealt with all that has happened in her carreer gave me a renewed excitement to push through these last 30 days and really lay it all out on the streets of Chicago. I can't wait to finish her book Stronger about the power of confidence in helping your running.

My first @believetrainingjournal from 2014! .
How did it help me? .
2014 was a tough year for me, mentally and physically. After running some of my best times, and feeling super fit, I ended up with an injury (and life stuff) that sidelined me for up to 3 years. I was heart broken.
When I returned to training, in Dec 2017, I immediately turned to my @believetrainingjournal to remind me of where I had been and where I still wanted to go. In the back of my journal, i wrote the kindest message to myself in 2014., and when I reread it, I knew my dreams were still alive.
I have been waiting to get a new one “when the time was right”. For that perfect moment, when I am super fit again. But, what I was reminded of at @oiselle#bigbirdcamp by @fleshmanflyer is that my past performances don’t define me. I’m ready for my next Believe Journal and would be so honored to be chosen to receive one. #believejournal#believetrainingjournal
Cat Bradley took time off from her final preparations for #UTMB to visit #bigbirdcamp and hang with #oisellevolée teaching us the basics of trail running! Thanks @salomonrunning for sharing her!! And check out her profile link (@catberad) for a write up of some of the fundamentals!
🔥DAAANNNGGG!🔥 I felt like a total BAMR tonight!! They say when you look the part, you act the part and my new @oiselle gear definitely had me feeling STRONG, POWERFUL, and FAST!!💪🏻🏃🏼♀️ Avg pace 7:31 - splits 7:27, 7:08, 7:53! We had an evening at #bigbirdcamp where we talked about body image and I can confidently say that I have never been prouder of what my body is capable of than I am right now! It has given me 2 beautiful babies and I am faster and stronger than ever before! #headupwingsout 💥💪🏻
I can’t believe how quickly #bigbirdcamp came and went. I am already missing my lady birds so much. I am grateful for our long weekend together and learned so much. I came home feeling confident, empowered, strong, peaceful, and with clarity. Thank you times a million to @oiselle for bringing us together. Here are my biggest take away messages from camp: - be a little more wild and a lot more free @fleshmanflyer - view your changing body during an injury as your body doing what it needs to do so it can heal @mellawrence29@clawrence27 - you are never alone with how you feel, be strong and talk about it. Say thank you when someone else shares their story. - make others feel special. Seriously, @karagoucher you are the kindest human. Thanks for dancing with me and please teach me your moves one day! - prove them wrong and use their words as ammunition @kiefferallie - you are worthy, valued, beautiful, strong, confident, loved, and enough.
Feeding my soul this weekend - didn’t realize just how much I’d love running trails. Only done it a few times in my life but after #bigbirdcamp and watching my coach @runningonventi tackle some crazy distances this year I am intrigued . . . Been stalking @catberad at #utmb after meeting her at #bigbirdcamp and am so inspired. Amazing race Cat! 🏃♀️ ⛰ . . . Thanks to #solomonrunning for the new trail shoes, I think they will be well loved 🍁 🍂 #oisellevolée#oisellemari
I guess you could say we’re enjoying #bigbirdcamp 💃
It’s so awesome to connect with women from across the country (& the world) who are committed to empowering other women and building each other up. Thanks @oiselle for believing in all of us and creating this community of badass ladies 🐦⛺️
