I was raised as an optimist so the following phrases were words I've heard before: Believe in people, hard work pays off, things will get better...the usual.
It is mind boggling, how mean, how pessimistic, people can be.
So when I faced curveballs or when things didnt go my way, I had a choice to make: Let life lead me, or lead my life.
Reread that last line.
That’s the reason we need to work our tails off to be, and to raise, optimists: Because a pessimist would never have seen a choice.
Be a fighter, always look for the best in others, fall down and get back up again—and again, and again.
I'm not saying it's always easy sometimes it is a struggle to stay positive, and pessimism desperately wants to be BFFs.
My negative alter-ego is sometimes sitting on my shoulder, whispering in my ear, “Isn’t life unfair?”
The thing is, life can seem unfair. But life gets so much easier, and happier, when we learne how to overcome negative thoughts.
You can’t just accept life; you have to intentionally live it.
When you juggle work, home, and life, just maintaining the status quo becomes a feat of endurance. It’s often an accomplishment to get through the day. Nevertheless we all are in charge with what we do with our time.
At the end of the day, it’s about believing in the power of good, not bad.
It’s about turning off the negativity, whether it flows from your mind, your partner, or your TV.
It’s about saying no to pessimism and yes to optimism and then sitting back and watching how your mindset changes which can positively impact your life.
Changing my mindset this year has been life changing ✨
Going from “I can’t do that to it’s going to be hard but it’s not impossible”. Even the thoughts I had from last semester tried to creep in this week. Instead of “I don’t want to go to class” I changed it to “I get to go to class and learn something new” Even changing from “I hate studying and I don’t want to” to “I get to study and help myself pass my first exam”
Those little thought changes have totally changed how see challenges. Instead of worrying and complaining about them. I started taking action towards them.
Complaining about them will get you nowhere. Not wanting to study is only going to hurt myself and my grades. So why not just do it to help myself and see it as something positive I’m doing instead.
If you want to achieve big goals this year, the work first has to start in your head. Change the way you see the hard stuff, be more positive about situations, and just start doing the work!
Y’all... I’m in a weird state of excited nervousness right now. We just took the longest break from performing since we moved to Nashville... it’s been almost six weeks since I’ve stood on stage and sang! But man, that extended break was what my soul needed to recharge. Tomorrow morning, we roll out nice and early for our first show of 2019. I’m so ready to get back to it!
Hey..Yeah, Y O U!
It doesn’t happen overnight...JUST KEEP GOING, okay?🖤
WHATEVER it may be that you are working on...Your body, your mind, your relationships, your nutrition, your marriage, your home, starting a family, dating, whatttteverrrr. Things take time; and that’s okay!! Learn to be present and love the moment you’re in, even if it’s not where you DREAM of being.
