My favorite hike this weekend was White Rim Overlook Trail. This photo shows me walking just a little bit outside of my comfort zone. This strip of rocks jutted out over some crazy deep canyons, and here I’m eagerly returning to broader and more solid-looking land. A whole blog post about my Moab trip is up and linked in my bio with lots of good info and lots of photos and a couple references to my music taste in 2011. Check it out! 🥾
Can't miss a Sunday slay 😎
I managed to get two eats on film in four minutes so let's talk about cadence. This is how I start every series. Let it free fall to the bottom, get the slack out of your reel then out of your line, reel it off of the bottom four inches, give it a four inch snap, and get ready🤙 If you look closely I missed this fish once, dropped it into the mud to stir the bottom and he hammered the top hook🔥 That's the beauty off the double rig!
@combatjigs Trout viper and hellfire got it done again. Broke this rig off after about 200 fish. Don't forget Simmons10

Meet your instructor, teacher, & owner @ashleybattersby@_ashletics_ . She was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Utah with her family in 2002. Ashley has competed professionally in slopestyle skiing where she traveled the world for contests at the highest levels where she has taken home medals from, Us Opens, @dewtour , and @xgames . She was a contender for the 2014 US Freeski Olympic Team but had tore her 5th ACL a month before the Sochi games. After a hard shot to her heart and her career, she made the tough decision to step away from competing. Not because Ashley was out of love or passion for skiing, but physically her body wasn’t holding up anymore. She then quickly transitioned to getting her 200hr cert in yoga and fitness classes and has been teaching since 2015/16. She has been teaching at many different studios and gyms in #Parkcity and then decided she wanted to open her own space. After many long hours revamping and working on the 100 year old building at 23 S. Main Street In coalville since June 2018, she is now amping up to Feb 1, 2019 ! . "Movement is medicine for the entire body and mind. As anyone, especially athletes, we need to take care of ourselves before there is an injury. Staying ready and prepared NOW so we don't have to GET READY later. When we are prepared, we can focus on our best performance because we put in the work!" .
Come on in, introduce yourself and take a class!

I’ve been waiting a long time to share this- After 8 very long months of revamping a 💯 year old building (actually 100 years old though) ,
I am proud to say I am Opening my own fitness and yoga studio! @stateofmindstudio 💙🧘🏽♀️🕉🏋🏽♀️ go give it a follow!
After doing one thing for so long, and soo many years I honestly didn’t know what I wanted life AFTER SKIING ⛷. Through yoga, I learned breath technique & stretches that aided in my ski performance but... I didn’t know it was going to change my life. ..
I am BEYOND overwhelmed with all the love and support I’ve received. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
1-my family and man have been putting in work to help me get this place up and running so fast. I am all feels when I think of the support team I have here.
2-my friends who have donated equipment, donated their time to do a photoshoots & editing photos, creating a logo, drawing out wiring for speaker & donated their help to paint.
3-the gyms and studios I currently still work for have been beyond stoked for me and have been doing all they can to spread the word(this is huge. Specially since we are all ‘competing businesses’- the way they do business is lifting up one another to help grow and push each other- I couldn’t ask for better friends in business. .
4- I’m grateful for all my ski people and people at @usfreeskiteam for the knowledge in helping me further myself in life and skiing.
🖤I can’t believe it, how far I’ve come w/such support, a tribe of people. To also recognize myself- pushing through-Going through all of the surgeries, pain, tears, travel, competitions, snowy/sunny days, fights, painful boot fitting,& living out of a suitcase- all of it- has brought me to this point. Im forever grateful to start a new chapter!! 🖤 .

There was a time when I would look upward and think of Le Petit Prince, gazing toward his star and imagining his home, his dominant rose waiting there, severe and guarded, but still the obscene focus of his affection, of his every hope to return home... I used to think of myself as the rose, sort of useless, misplaced, a seed that drifted in from somewhere else that couldn't help but brood, because how could one not when everything is so misunderstood...but then I began to see myself as the Little Prince, journeying through everyone else's landscape and marveling at their bizarre machinations...but enlightened as he was, he had equally strange fixations. We all do. It isn't until recently, maybe just today, that I realized if I were anyone, I am the pilot, who can remember how to see past things that appear to be hats and boxes with holes in them and still willing (as frustrating as it may be at times) to listen carefully to the plot points of journeys that are not my own, so I can carry those thoughts with me on my travels and keep trying to make sense of this place...only then I remember that the little prince is so very obviously the pilot's inner child...does that mean...the rose...is also him? Where was I? Oh yes, the lunar eclipse...kinda rosy, isn't it... #lunardust#starchild#mavieenrose#bloodmoon#nightsky#moon#superbloodwolfmoon#supermoon#wolfmoon#lunareclipse#space#skyporn#darkness#blood#stars#antoinedestexupery#pilot#starsailor#lepetitprince#thelittleprince#fivehundredmillionlittlebells#fourthorns#rose#utah#beautahful#rosecoloredglasses
I thought I'd share some exposure examples of the moon tonight. The moon can be hard to shoot because you have to super UNDERexpose to get any detail. I usually shoot aperture priority so my camera wants to compensate for all that dark sky by over exposing. So your best bet is to take it to full manual.
But then with an eclipse, you have to come back a bit and expose a bit more to get the dark moon to show up.
When the eclipse hit about half way I started taking two exposure - one fast and one slow to get the details. The settings:
Image on the left:
500mm Exp 1/1000 sec @ f / 5.6 with ISO 400
Image on the right:
500mm Exp 1 sec @ f / 5.6 with ISO 400
So for the dark shadow it was exposed for 1/1000 of a second while the one exposed to get the eclipsed portion it's actually exposed for a full second.
So cool to be able to witness the rare Super Blood Wolf Moon here in Utah. Grateful for neighbors who let us share their telescope. ❤️ 🌙 Phenomenal! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My view of the moon tonight. Unfortunately it ended early for me as clouds obscured the eclipse about 10% in. I hope you all had skies that cooperated and I can't wait to see your pics. Me, I'm going to go crawl into the fetal position and rock myself to sleep... 😢There's always the next one in 2021...

Had a wet and amazing weekend 💦 Feelin myself and it feels so good!!
Wanted to take a moment to talk about self-love. How aware are you of the thoughts you have about yourself? Is your self talk mostly critical? Is your self-love dependent on your physical appearance? I believe it’s important to pay attention to the way we’re treating ourselves. I asked a friend, “Would you think about or talk about a best friend the way you’re talking to yourself?” The answer is usually a resounding no. No one is ever judging you as much as you are. You are a miracle being and deserve unconditional self-love. It requires patience with yourself, and PRACTICING paying attention to your thoughts and actively being more compassionate to yourself. It can be hard at first, but it becomes a habit the more you validate yourself. Treat yourself the way you’d treat your best friend. Stop tearing yourself down and self-deprecating. You deserve to be treated better than that 🙏🏼😘
