Laying the groundwork for spring marathon season. There is no substitute for hard work and persistence. Smart training + hard work = achievement. Those at the top of the mountain didn’t fall there...I’ma ball till I fall🏀👊🏻
After a 2 hour dentist appt this morning, I did not feel like going to the gym but I sucked it up because consistency is key. There’s no cheating the grind and that will show on race day, so I rallied, drank my Vega Sport strawberry lemonade pre-workout🍓🍋and I went to work🏋🏻♀️I think I went harder today on LEGS than I ever have😳Fully expecting to be hobbling later and tomorrow BUT worth it = getting stronger and making progress. .
trying to get back in the groove after weeks of watching TV and eating like shit
(I’m watching The Good Place, Scream Queens, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the Great British Baking Show all at once 🙂)
Inhale. Exhale. 👌🏻
I used to have such an issue when it came to taking care of myself. I would never let myself just stop and take a breath, remembering that the world isn’t gonna end if I pause.
Thankfully I’ve started listening to my body and what I need and want. So reminder for today: Don’t forget to take care of you 💕
This photo is great, we are basically twins 👯♂️same shoes, same stride, same arm position, same level of handsomeness. But really the best part here is that I got to share some miles with @itwillallbok on Saturday as he truly is an inspiration to me. Brendan despite a rough stretch went out on Saturday and knocked out a sub 3 marathon without the training he wanted. As we ran together he never complained about that, he said he wanted to be out here giving it his all. That’s the thing about Brendan, he never complains or is negative or puts people down. He is always positive, full of energy, and smiling and his aura around him touches everyone he meets. I’ve rarely ended a conversation or interaction with Brendan where I wasn’t 100% feeling better and more upbeat then when it started. He is always out here grinding and always offering his time for his friends and honestly a lot of the time I find myself striving to be more like BOK. I’m proud to call him a friend and that I get to share such great memories like this with him so often. When you think about the people you want in your circle to inspire you and make you the best version of yourself, Brendan should be very high up on your list. 📸 cred @cheereverywhere.jpg

I ❤️ #strengthtraining as much as I love my #pavementtime. I had a really great routine of going to the gym before work for several years. After my #hysterectomy, my habits changed dramatically. I fell out of my #lifting routine and have struggled to get back into it. Aside from running stronger and longer, I’m working on waking up early to get my #weights in before my day starts. Having a strong core helps prevent injury and keeps me sane 😁

My ol faithful Garmin Forerunner 220 is all set up and ready for another run tomorrow!
Yesterday at PT I got my run/walk interval plan for the next FOUR WEEKS. To be honest I was slightly annoyed at first that it will be another 4 weeks before I can run again, but when I snapped out of my ridiculousness I thought to myself 'but I'm already running!' Run/walk intervals are still running. If it's only for 1 minute at a time, it's still a run, and it still brings me immeasurable JOY. If anyone is taking the slowest, most conservative approach to a comeback it's my PT and I (😂), but I am 100% okay with it. I'm honestly too scared to return any other way, and I feel incredibly lucky that my PT trusts me with this plan. I'm diligent, do everything by the book and exactly as I'm told, so he is confident in me coming back without a hitch. I honestly had no idea I could do run/walk intervals with my watch, but then again I've never had a reason to either. I found this as another wonderful blessing in this injury/season; I got to learn more about my watch this morning and discover the cool things it can do, and even though I have to do intervals for longer than I expected I'm still RUNNING! YAY! My return is gradual, slow, reserved, and also happening so fast. I'm excited to try this "new" feature on my watch tomorrow!
🇬🇧I’m finally back in the gym! 🤸🏻♂️ After a very long break between me and gymnastics I finally went to training yesterday. 😍 Even though my skills were a bit rusty, I loved being back at my favourite place. 💪🏻 Also, this morning I finally went for a jog with my mom. 🏃🏻♀️ My injury is definately still there, but it feels good to be on both of my legs again. ✨
🌬Hair in the air😜
Where is the #sun ? 🤷♀️ I see only grey clouds...
Liebe Sonne 🌞, komm zurück!🤗Stattdessen graue Wolken ☁️ und Wind 💨 😕 und unter 45 Minuten doch nicht geschafft. Na gut, dafür kann man noch #trainieren 🤨😆
Why do you run?
To paraphrase what @megroche3 said on a podcast recently, “running itself is pointless. It’s all about the connections made and stories and experiences you gather along the way.”
This morning I listened to @billyyangpod with one of my favorites, @timothyallenolson. It was a longer run commute, yet the miles clicked off quickly while listening to these two.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Tim over the last few years through @novemberproject, running with him on his home trails in Boulder, and more. It’s connections like these to incredible humans like Tim, @larunr, @megroche3 and so many others that makes it all so worth it. 🙌🏻🙏🏻⛰
What drives you? Find that force, whatever it is, and dig in!
I ran a 12K this weekend... And placed 6th overall. Not only did I finally get 7 miles in less than an hour, but I got 7.47 in 1:01. The placement isn't what woke me up, because someone faster can always show up. What DID kick my butt into gear was seeing my husband walk up to the finish line with my baby girl, 4 minutes after I finished, not expecting me for another 15 minutes. The look on his face 😵 That is what lit my fire 🔥. So for December, I could just run the full marathon in 4:00 just to do it, OR I could train to beat my husband in the half! And that my friends, is what I am going to do. I've never been one to do something just to do it (because face it, we are ALL capable of running a full whether we believe it or not). This is the first time my hubby and I are BOTH training consistently, so for the first time in over 9 years of marriage, it's a level playing field. .
And what about kicking into gear and milk supply? Baby girl is gaining steadily just on my milk. Breastfed babies tend to slow down weight gain after 3 months but she has gained 3.5 lbs in the last 2 months and she is 5 months old (50th percentile in weight). So no problems there! My diet is still 50-65% fat, 20-30% protein, and the rest unrefined carbs (fruits and veggies). And hydration! I drink about 200 oz of water per day, with electrolytes as well (I love #arbonne#hydration ) . .

Two thumbs up for Tuesday speed work 👍🏼👍🏼1.5 warm up, 3x2 miles, 1.5 cool down- 10.5 total.
Never have I ever trained for a race as hard as I’m training for CIM. #HansonsMarathonMethod is a challenge for me as someone who never did speed and tempo runs before, but I already know how much these hard workouts are helping my fitness and DANG I FEEL GOOD when they’re over! What’s your favorite speed workout to do? I personally have a major love/hate relationship with the tempo, but always look forward to shorter 400/800 intervals.
Change is inevitable, but transformation is a conscious choice✨
#transformationtuesday and it genuinely scares me to see old photos of myself. What would my health be like now if I hadn't made the decision to lose weight? Where would my health, both physical and mental, be if I hadn't made the choice to put on some trainers and start the couch to 5k app?? .
My life has changed significantly since the pic on the left. I've gotten divorced from my first husband, lost 3 stone in weight, gained 1 stone back, then lost another 2 stone. I've met the most amazing man and moved 300 miles to be with him. I've changed my job, twice. My mum has gone from being in remission to having terminal secondary breast cancer. But, in amongst this, I've also taken up running. 🏃🏼♀️
I am so addicted to this sport, I can't stop booking races!🙈🙈 It's transformed my life and I am incredibly lucky I get to share it with @running_man_sam 💕 it's my release, my therapy and it means I get to wear crazy leggings and paint my face on a Sunday morning 😂
