Let’s go back to roses, shall we? Here are “Heritage”, a David Austin rose I just love, and a Hybrid Tea rose called “Love and Peace”. I tend to favor English roses and don’t tend to be a fan of Hybrid Teas. But I had a late-season space to fill in the garden and this one caught my eye because one of its parents is the classic “Peace” rose.
The pink and yellow mix is rather strong when the bloom opens but mellows nicely as the bloom ages. It’s fragrant and has good vase life. And it has, so far, a nice bushy form along with the ability to take the heat and humidity of our summer. All definitely points in its favor!
Crepe myrtle season! I'm overjoyed to have a string of these beauties by my house. Makes the awful summer humidity bearable. And see my blueberries in the background? 💚
This year we had tree swallows in one of our gourds. Not only did we get to watch the mr and mrs stuff all sorts of things into it, but my husband and I actually got to see "the deed." Yup. We sat on the porch one afternoon and watched the seconds-long mating act. 🐦 I regretted that I didn't go into biology or ornithology because animal reproduction kind of fascinates me. So much to study, but only one life to live!
Speaking of living life and managing the up and downs and back and forths, this Andrew Peterson song (Always Good) is striking home in a delightful and deep way: "Arise, O Lord, and save me for there's no where else to go. You're always good. Always good. Somehow this sorrow is shaping my heart like it should. You're always good...help us to understand your intentions for us are good for you laid down your life and suffered like I never could. And you're always good." So whatever hardship is shaping you, know that He's always good.
#flowersofinstagram#backyardbeauty #💛#❤️ #angelsinthegarden#mamasangel this little angel came from my mama’s basement - she loved angels in the garden. I have a few but this one reminds me of her the most. She loved her flower garden, her yard art and her plants. Seeing pretty things in my yard reminds me of spending time with her and her plants and her flower garden. #memories it’s funny what triggers the memories #❤️❤️
Tobin outdid himself this year growing zinnias and Mexican sunflowers from seed this early spring!! He’s 6’3” and the sunflowers are taller then he is!! I love that he loves flowers as much as I do!! It’s been a daily chore to keep them watered, but they’re gorgeous and it makes our backyard so peaceful and pretty!

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting @georgiahoneyfarm I went home with some tasty treats and some very interesting literature. I was inspired to create this piece! I am just crazy about the painted labels and definitely plan to do more of these! Prints available on Etsy. #georgiahoneyfarm#dronebee#workerbee
