Hello community 👋👋
So, Was a little busy a these days so couldn't share my daily activity.
I went on a small trip to explore something new. 🌲🌲🌊🌊
So, I got back to coding today and started with SOCKET.IO module in node js.
I tried to work with web sockets earlier with Spring boot but couldn't actually get my head around them because of so much configurations.
Classic Spring. 🙄🙄🙄
I started the last and final project of the course which I am taking on node js, which is to create a Simple Chat Application.💻🖥️
I set up my app to create a basic connection between client and server and do little something when there is a new connection.
I will work to enhace the app in coming days. 😎😎
If you are wondering, I am taking:
The Complete Nodejs developers bootcamp by Andrew Mead on Udemy.
Happy Coding ,you all. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
In 💙 with TypeScript
🤩 If you have been following me for a while you probably know that one of my favourite languages to work with is TypeScript. That’s why a few days ago I started rewriting all my existing NodeJS APIs with it.
🛠 And only a few days ago because I first wanted to create a complete seed project with scalable structure, proper unit tests, auto-generated swagger docs, strict tslint rules in order to keep the code clean and a joyful development flow.
🤗 My seed project is now public and you can find it on my Github profile or my latest Medium post where I also give a brief explanation of its structure and how it works. The link is in my bio so feel free to check it out and give me your feedback!
👉🏻 Also I would like to know what is your opinion about Typescript? Have you used it in your projects or not yet?

My new favorite coworking space; The Wing San Francisco. Currently I’m switching between three different projects, having a hard time deciding which to fully focus on. Everyone says you have to focus on just one thing to be successful but these three AI projects are way to fun to just chose one 🤖
What’s your strategy? Focusing on one thing or switching between different projects? 👩💻 #girlswhocode
[Christer] For the last year I've been working on my side project Snufin (Play on words with Snuti, with «Snu» in Norwegian means to turn around, «fin» for finances). 💸 After trying various tools and solutions for tracking & forecasting our company finances as well as our personal finances. Finding no adequate solutions for a holistic approach (apart for my over-engineered spreadsheets which were grinding to a halt), I decided to code my own. 💻
Side projects are great for exploring new tech, but I quickly learnt not to pick up too many new tools at the same time. While it was easy to fall in love with VueJS combined with Pug and SASS for the frontend, for the backend I used a more familiar PHP/MySQL API approach. It's been a really productive setup. 👍
For the last year, Snufin has slowly come together to become a little powerhouse. Last few months it's given me full forecasting of our personal and business economy for the next 12+ months. Knowing exactly what we spend in each category and also keeping track of funds, stocks and currencies. 📈
I've pondered if Snufin could one day become a product itself, as I can imagine helping more people than just us. But our goal is to make the world read, not do finances. 😅 Learn it in a book instead! 😛 What tools do you use to manage your finance?

Did you know that your browser uses WebRTC to optimize it’s ability to communicate via APIs?
WebRTC is used by Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Android & iOS
While it sounds good I just noticed that it leaked my local IP address that shouldn’t be available to any website (this isn’t really a big deal but if you’re like me and want to block it you can easily look up instructions on how to block it on the web) - I installed “WebRTC Network Limiter” for Chrome but I believe that you’ll have to go into the configuration file on Firefox - as for the other browsers I don’t know any way of doing it but I assume it’s equally simple regardless of which browser you use
