Let's all give snaps to @shivaunplozza 🙌🙌 if you hadn't heard already, she released her amazing book Tin Heart in the US last week and she was lovely enough to send me a copy (I screamed). So not only do our bookish babes in America get to experience one of my favourite books of 2018, but I also get to own a sexy hardcover copy 😭
If you are after one, it looks like you can get it from all the usual places - Barnes and Noble, Target, Chapters - so go get your handsies on a copy and cry with me!
Must’ve polished this off in 48 hours. Islands continues my streak of Excellent Australian Authors I’m Only Discovering Just Now. The blurb was exactly right when it said a little like Georgia Blain and a bit like Helen Garner. Melancholy, achingly nostalgic, reminiscent of the agonies of adolescence. It’s as much about absence as the loudness and friction of family life. Brilliant! ✨🏝💖

John Purcell gave a terrific talk this morning at Bowral Library, regaling the audience with fabulously entertaining stories about life as a bookseller. John also took time out to sign copies of his book, The Girl On The Page, and to chat with Robyn Karakasch and other Friends of Wingecarribee Libraries.
"Mzrs Yar'Adua was not one for unnecessary chit chat. She never demanded attention unless it was warranted. And, people knew this of her. So whatever she had to say was understood universally to carry significant weight, especially in the current debate of how they would move foward. In light of Samil Winderlum's recent and concerning arrival, her move was substancially more significant. Mzrs Yar'Adua eyed Oldman Anneki. Then, in a soft low tone, she started...with the complete attention of the Council Circle." Pg 254

Where to buy the book
Hello! I’ve been a bit M.I.A lately, but I finally managed to write a blog post with some updates for you all! You can find my latest post (which may or may not include photos of cats 😻) at www.meagandux.com 🧡🧡
Three very different looking geese learn they do not have to change who they are and how they look to fit in with their gaggle.
It's a quirky, beautiful story about acceptance and it's ok being you. You don't need to be the same as everyone else, because at the end of the day, We All Honk The Same! HONK! 🔜 to be released, along side @sysmstudio...so stay tuned!
Been thinking about those who have recently had their hearts broken. Nursing a broken heart is tough. The sting can stick around for years if not dealt with carefully. ⠀
While continuing to look back on what was lost you risk seeing the beauty of what is ahead. Who knows what is on the horizon?⠀
Philippians 3:13-16 puts it like this:⠀
‘By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.’
Regardless of what’s happened in the past let’s keep focused on the future. You’re on the right track. And now that you’re on the right track, stay on it! Cheering you on! 👏🏼 - Carly 💕

Lottie and Walter
Anticipation has been high for Anna Walker’s newest work, and rightfully so!
Flowing with warmth and care, ‘Lottie and Walter’ is a beautiful and expressive story that brilliantly balances humour and depth.
Lottie doesn't want to be afraid, but no matter what she does, she just can't go in the water.
Until she finds a surprising friend, who turns out to be more helpful than Lottie could ever have imagined.
Attune to the introspective capacity of children, Walker writes with insight and tenderness. Her art has a casual sophistication to it - contemporary and yet classic. Cool, swirling pools of watercolour and ink are carefully collaged into restrained compositions. But even Walker can not contain her art for long - beautiful double-spreads burst out, awash with colour and texture.
‘Lottie and Walker’ is bound to make a splash come the next award season and end-of-year lists. It’s only March, but I confidently proclaim this as one of the best picture books of 2019.

When it’s Friday afternoon and you hit your local bookshop and spy one of your literary idols and become such a bumbling fool you can’t even remember the title of her first novel and you try to explain how deeply moved you were by it but your words fail so you put your hand on your heart and crash into a book shelf and go all weird and maybe even dribble a bit. But then you buy her second book and she asks your name and signs it for you and you come home and make your 12 year old take a photo of you holding the book so you can remember that time you met Anna Spargo-Ryan and the last day of term one ends well.
Thank you @annaspargoryan for tolerating my tongue tied fangirl moment. You’re ace.
So, for me, there is nothing quite like holding a novel in my hands, that I designed the cover of! It’s an ALL SORTS OF AWESOME feeling 😜 Besides the awesome cover (hehe), this book is also one awesome read (I know I am going overboard with the word ‘awesome’, but hey, if the shoe fits...😜) it hit number one a whiles back, and is just truly a beautiful, honest and raw read. It’s the story of ‘Grace’ a mum and wife, who has her happy life ripped from her, and her emotional journey back to finding herself 💖
Vanessa Evetts (@vevettswriter) the author of this book, was such a down right pleasure to collaborate with, and the clever lass has more books in the pipe line...ohhh - that means more book cover illustrations (and the bonus of great reads) for me!! 📚
You can grab a copy of her book via Amazon in paperback or ebook form via a link in my bio.
