#Midweek#Hump 🐪 . After spending the past 2 days hunkered down in my home office, I ventured out #today. First port of call - To speak with the 2019 #Artists in Residence at @alexisgalleries. Way to go Guys 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾. Can you guess what our conversation revolved around? You guessed right! #Water#hyacinth 🌱🌸 which is called water 💦 rug (another name 😉). We had a show and tell session with different products.
However, the #handmade paper by #MitiMeth took the conversation to the next level as we discussed the possibilities of using this #unique textured #paper as a medium for #painting 🎨 . Then the #guys did something really really #special 🤩, they painted/drew me on the handmade paper 🧻 I brought for the session. So so grateful 🙏🏿 @agemofrancis, Akinbanji and Babatunde for doing this in the twinkling ✨ of an eye 👁. #Thank you to Patty, Sis Y and our super talented Artists. Happy #Wednesday 😆 to you all.

Music video concept idea if Queen ever re-recorded Exclusive girl (with the help of @youloveaspicyspam x @prettyguaps )
Exclusive girl lyrics is about women over coming their insecurities and societies norms. Royalty Squad really loves that song and we hope you can re-record it! @queennaija
The idea: incorporate all women across the board. Cis women, lgbtq women, trans women, all races, body sizes, skin tones, diabled, even older women in the video. The first slide is the last super. You can recreate art work in the video that were popular with men in it originally and replace it instead with women and have younger girls walking in a museum seeing the representation. Another idea would be women walking in a room full of mirrors looking at a version of them society wants them to be/ unrealistic version of themselves but they are happy with the skin they’re in. Queen is a very powerful influence and could really impact the industry if she incorporates representation in her music/videos!
Applications are now open for our Emerging Artist Studio Program for a residency starting in April. The program is open to artists who are 18-35 that recently graduated from any London and area Visual Art program or London-based artists who have graduated from another Canadian institution (within the past 2 years) are encouraged to apply. Link in bio. #ldnont#artists
MY ART ROOM TOP NINE! These right here are the items I cannot live with out, the things my students love most, my favorite teaching tools, motivators, managements and more! From the top left...1. My Treeworks Single Note Energy Chime (made by my husband’s company and only a mere $12, available on Amazon) ... I use this thing ALL DAY LONG as my attention getter and I’d be lost without it! 2. My Happy/Sad board! You can hear me wax poetic about this board on my YouTube channel or blog (just search classroom management)...this is what I use the moment my students walk in the door to inspire good behavior. My older students are out in charge of the board and once at their seats. 3. My Bonaok mic! My kids LOVE this...I use it when I read aloud and my students use it when they cal tables to line up! 4. COFFEE...no explanation needed. 5. My Color Wheel Clean Up Gong! We play this at the end of art class along with my 6. Clean Up Drums! Such a motivator for good behavior. 7. READ ALOUD TIME! I love reading to my older kids while they work and Shel Silverstein is one of their faves. 8. My big Time Timer...this It never keeps us from being late it is a nice visual for me and the kids. 9. DRY ERASE BOARDS! For all the things...sketching is what we use them for a lot before tackling our works of art. Do you have any of these? What’s in your Top Nine?? 🌈❤️🌈❤️🌈 #cassiestephens#artteachersofinstagram#artlesson#artteacherrock#whattheartteacherwore#artists#kidscreate#kidsart#primaryart#primaryartclass#artteacherlife#teachersofig#teachersofinstagram#classroom#classroomdecoration#artteacherhome
Snippet from a recent project I directed, with the board art to compare. Boards/designs by me, animation by @uberrobocorn, background by #Joe Andrade, color by me. Love when each piece from a team comes together into one cool cohesive video.

@artprojectsforkids has a great lesson for Black History month, creating Gee’s Bend inspired paper quilts!
This week, kindergarten picked out their color schemes and began adding a variety of cut out shapes. Next week, they will continue adding shapes to make each rectangle look unique. Also, I just placed an order for, “Belle, The Last Mule at Gee’s Bend” on Amazon. I’m excited to read this to classes and add it to our growing art library!
Thanks @artprojectsforkids for such a great idea!
This portrait of Joseph #Roulin is one of six van Gogh painted of his close friend, a postal employee in the southern French town of #Arles, a fifteen-hour train ride from Paris. Van Gogh had moved to Arles in 1888, hoping to create an #artists cooperative there. The plan never came to fruition, and the artist became lonely and isolated. He found comfort and companionship with the Roulin family, and they are the subjects of many of his paintings. In this #portrait, Roulin is depicted in the uniform he always wore proudly, set against an imaginative backdrop of swirling flowers. In a letter to his brother Theo, the artist wrote that, of all genres, "the modern portrait" excited him the most: "I want to #paint men and women with that something of the eternal which the halo used to symbolize, and which we try to convey by the actual radiance and vibration of our coloring."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀
