Cross sections and deconstructions of teapots, the piece on the right is a tried and tested form and one you find finished, thrown versions of a few posts back. The other is an iteration I’d like to try, it links more closely to my more individual lines vessels and has a pulled handle rather than lugs to attach a handle to.
Drawn using one of my hand thrown ink dip pens and painted using my palette set, for the pale washes of grey, which is admittedly about as colour I like using in my paintings. I always begin my drawings in pencil that I then ink over, the sketches beneath and rubbed out and finally I brush over a very simple single colour. I’ve been doing quite a few of these in preparation for some prints I’m thinking of having made soon.
These pictures are also feeding another idea for my ceramic work—it’s one that needs a lot more exploration and thought put into it but once I’m settled and making again it’ll be a project I’ll run alongside my functional range of pots and those with linear marks.
