How To Use Flashcards for Kids
Flashcards are considered ideal right brain stimulation tools for little ones. Till the age of around 5-6 years, the intuitive and creative right brain is dominant and it’s a window which we can utilize to make kids learn various things easily, quickly and for a long term. It can activate photographic memory. It’s important to keep the sessions very quick and fun so that kids don’t lose interest. It’s recommended that we don’t show one flashcard for more than one second. Faster the better as it enhances brain’s processing speed.
It’s also recommended that we start showing flash cards to children when they are little babies. I was late here and introduced flash cards to Idhaya in December last year when she was about 21 months old. I was surprised how quickly she learned the parts of body and started showing interest in colors. I was looking to add more flashcards in her collection and Puja from @chalkboard.always contacted me at the same time. She sent me 3 sets of age-appropriate flashcards for Idhaya.
Numbers- There are 20 cards in the set. One side has the numbers written on it while other shows some objects in the same number. So you can flash the numbers and also show them how to count.
Zoo Animals- One side of the cards has picture of an animal along with its name in English. The other side has its Hindi name and a little description about the animal in English. This set also has 20 cards.
Sea Animals- This set has ten cards and has pictures of sea animals and their English names on both the sides.
Two very good things about these @chalkboard.always flashcards are that they are tear-free and water-proof. Idhaya likes to handle the cards herself too and the regular ones can be torn easily but not these. You can even get them bound in a ring so that none of the flashcards will be lost. These bright flashcards are nominally priced so start collecting. Puja also has many other activities for your kids so check out her page and support her upcoming brand while making your little ones learn 😊

@firstcryintellikit is an age appropriate learning program, developed according to Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence. It ensures that your child develops the right skills at the right ages, and in a fun way. This kit ensures learning through play, reinforcement and by doing.
A child’s work is to PLAY. Practical application of various concepts helps them remember things better. And since some of the activities can be done again and again, repetition ensures perfection.
Every child has his/her own potentials and capabilities, which in the right environment help them excel. Intellikit helps in the development of the 8 smarts in the child. Nature smart, body smart, picture smart, logic smart, music smart, word smart, self smart and people smart.
My daughter loved her world traveller box. Now, travelling with a kid can be stressful. Explaining the sequence of events Might get tedious. This box helps with that. It has a total of 9 activities. Now, the best part according to me was that all these activities were to be done in a sequence and according to the calendar. So, basically it is teaching the child the how to’s and what to’s involved during travel. Starting from getting your passport ready, to packing your suitcase, meals on the flight and games that can be played in the flight etc. This kit came just in time before our recent travel. Though it was a 12 hour road journey within India, so except Getting the passport ready, my elder one was well aware of what follows what. And well, instead of in flight, we played the games in- car. So you see lesser screen time while travel as well. Some of these activities can be done repeatedly. And if that was not all, you get to reward your child with stars on their calendar. So it’s a complete win win.
The various activities help in developing skills like fine motor grips, hand eye coordination, logical thinking, sequential thinking etc.
