Since I started this lean bulk process, and especially this week- I received many questions pertaining to my physique, and my type 1 diabetes... when this topic arises I typically bring up @jasonpostonpro for multiple reasons. - people typically associate diabetes with obese/overweight people (which is not always the case)
- they tend to misinterpret the lifestyle we diabetics CAN lead
- they are not always fully informed about or diets, training programs, limitations etc. • I LOVE being able to inform/educate people. Answer ANY questions y’all may have, or inquiries bc this is just unfortunately something we have to live with. Many ask if my carb intake is low. Tends to make me smile. I smirk and say- “hell no man, sometimes I hit 300-350 in a day!” Haha. This is when I bring up @jasonpostonpro I tell them to give him a look. This dude is an incredible inspiration. And complete monster. He’s lean, and is MASSIVE. Proof that we can break through our limits. - guys. We all have limitations and barriers. Do some have genetic advantages? Absolutely. If you DONT does that mean you’re SOL? Absolutely NOT. It means, maybe you have to throw in some elbow grease. Maybe you need to put in a little extra time/effort. Maybe you need to sit down, go thru WEEKS of trial and error. And find out what CARBS and fats your body responds BETTER to. • Ex: my coach put me on brown rice. (Easily digestible low on Glycemic index, theoretically better for blood sugar) I started to become bloated and my blood sugar wasn’t as easily controlled. We switched back to white (higher glycemic index. Turns to sugar more quickly, typically would harshly effect blood sugar levels) and I began leaning out again, and continuing to make gains. • i guess what I wanna say is, don’t ever limit yourselves guys...! Just don’t. Use it as motivation to work harder when you struggle. Enjoy the process! Eat that dirt. Dig in. Get gritty. Bc it makes YOUR success that much sweeter for YOU. When it comes to music, or fitness. I just want to inspire, motivate and support people. That’s what truly makes me happy. And I love seeing y’all succeed. • The Lean bulk comes to an end. It’s time to cut up this 230#
My mom recently sent this article to me.. I already knew this fact☝️...but that does not make it any easier to read 😦....
Falls. Are. Not. A normal part of aging. Challenging & improving #balance and #agility is a way to reduce the chances of falls in our loved ones. There are allies online and in our communities that want to help. Internalizing at any age that things fall apart at some prescribed age only makes this fact a looming reality. #fallprevention#facts#disruptaging#nevertooold

“HALLELUJAH!” - every Minnesotan on a day like today ☀️👐🏻
When the photographer says “strike a pose” 🤦🏻♀️ Yup, that’s me 💁🏻♀️😅 One thing that I’ve learned consistently throughout life so far as that authenticity is the fundamental key to true happiness, living out your purpose, and being fueled by passion.
Maybe it was small… But for me today was huge.
10 years ago I moved out to DC… I had never been here before.
I was going to pursue a masters degree and strength and conditioning but many people didn’t understand what that was; they thought I was going to be a glorified personal trainer - And who knows, maybe that’s what I am…🤷🏻♀️ But to be standing a few blocks from the White House, on Pennsylvania Avenue delivering a workout to people of all different backgrounds and getting paid to do it seemed like a dream come true, in fact it is a dream come true.
So the moral and that is to be authentic no matter what, even when it’s hard, Because then and only then after consistently showing up and being true to yourself or you find your dream is manifesting themselves into your day-to-day life.
It’s 11am on a Saturday and the day has already been filled SO much goodness. Started the morning w/ a mastermind, a workout, a book & @elenabrower practice you deck, which helps ones best self through wisdom, strength & creativity. But if you‘d asked me to do this three years ago, it would’ve been a hard no.
Instead, I scrambled out the door, rushing to train my 5am client & most days I’d start off frustrated, from a client no showing me. Funny enough, as a trainer, I ended up not practicing what I was preaching to my clients. Which was a terrible feeling. It’s what meant the most to me, aka taking care of your health & wellbeing, but it went on the back burner instead. I ended up burnt out & unhappy with something that was supposed to bring me joy.
I now have a job that starts each day focusing on my health, filling my own cup, so I can show up better to those I serve. I remember finding out about this job from a friend. She invited me to learn more about the business & how it would benefit my training career. But I was closed minded & said no. I felt skeptical of being apart of something that wasn’t ‘me’. I made assumptions on something I didn’t even know a single thing about.
I finally said YES in late 2017, I’ve had the most life changing shift, people & incredible opportunity brought in my life, especially as a fitness professional. Even better, I get to build my own business, set my own goals, be in charge of my own schedule and improve others & my own health across the world.
I wish I could go back in time. I would have said yes right away, instead of no for 3 years. I always wonder what life would be like if I said yes but damn, I feel grateful life led me to a career that impacts every aspect of people’s lives.
It’s now my duty to share my story and to change YOUR life. I’m mentoring 10 women, ready to make a change with their health, while impacting others. Women who either want to make a side hustle or earn a full-time income. If you are willing to work hard, help people & be a team player, let’s do this girl! Me when choosing new #acefitness course 😄
I can be doing it for months and months, trying to find the most interesting one - you don’t want to end up with a disappointingly boring course for THAT much money.
Do you continue to do the same workout each time you train, yet nothing seems to be changing? Then it’s time to change up your tempo, exercise order, weights, exercise selection and rep vs set scheme! The body has a unique way of figuring out how to become efficient at something so the idea of “shocking” the system matters. And by shocking, I mean change it up. Be sure to swipe 👈🏼 for tempo chart and goal chart to help you change up your training. Photo #2 gives an example of how many seconds to allow for each phase of an exercise. If you were doing a push-up, this would mean you would lower for 4s count, X represents no seconds or pause, 2s count pushing back up and no rest at the start of the push-up. Be sure to check out my post tomorrow for more ideas 💡💪🏼🏋🏻♀️.

Half kneeling landmine press is an easy way to integrate and scale clients and athletes with shoulder issues or limited range of motion.
The landmine provides the ability to reduce the degree and lever placed on the shoulder while also providing the scalability for the client or athlete to lean into the press to increase their ROM overhead.
