“Success is Survival”- attributed to Leonard Cohen. Having a laneway named after you and being cast into the brickwork takes survival it to a whole new level! Bon Scott’s memory is immortalized in a concrete rendered sculture in AC/DC lane. Scott was the lead singer of AC?DC -iconic Australian rock band. He died in 1980. The work is by Melbourne-based artist Mike Makatron.
I DESIGNED THIS!!! And it hung in Cherry Bar for 6 weeks. Then I got to take it home. It's not on my wall anymore, but I still have it.
I saw the news tonight about Cherry Bar moving from AC/DC Lane. Sorry, but if it moves it WON'T be Cherry Bar.
AC/DC Lane and Cherry Bar go together, like Bert and Ernie,Batman and Robin,Lois and Clark or Vegemite and cheese.
Neither are the same without each other. They're all iconic duos.
I don't remember when I first walked inside the doors, but I have hell of a lot of memories.
Like the time we were in the back bar and all of a sudden men in suits with ear pieces walked in. It turned out Lady Gaga was in the Front Bar. Or the time one of the Boys from Airbourne touched me on the shoulder and asked me how I was going. Or when I met Richie Ramone or all the residencies I went to like Shewolf,Ablaze The Deep End. Or the best one, when I was helping a friend load out and we got back and THE LEGIT ACTUAL Cookie Monster from Sesame Street was out the front.
So many great times with so many great friends.
I'm gonna miss ya Cherry. But since you're moving can I have my plaque from the wall out the front.
