#FBF recovering from running at high altitude out in Denver, Colorado. Love the challenge and I can't wait to return to a similar landscape soon. Comment below if you've ever run at high altitude (location, distance, etc)... #HarlemRun#WeRunHarlem#FlashbackFriday#UARunCamp No. 1
#tbt Can’t believe this was just 1 year ago... haven’t any any experience that comes close to running through a canyon not knowing how far you’re going and you have no idea what lies ahead. Under Armour Run Camp is an experience like no other! Also, it was I great to meet everyone. If you constantly see people working hard, you’ll be inspired to work hard too! 💪🏃🏃♀️
This has to be one of the most humbling experiences of my life! It took me months to post this afraid of showing this vulnerable moment on social media, but last week I was pacing a new runner to DRC.... when I looked over the young lady was very emotional, out of breath and in tears. After we stopped for a little I learned she had just lost her father the week before and had vowed to began living a healthier lifestyle. I shared my story and was able to lift her spirits enough to finish the 2.5 mile run. As coach @iruntons says "you're either running from something or you're running to something!" What's your reason?
Thank You @uarunning for the amazing experience!! #and 😂 #iguessandismynewfillerword#IHATEhearingmyselftalk#UArunning#UArunCamp#DeathValley#runwithfight#IWill#runDRC
This is when I broke down into tears, from the sheer weight that had been mounting over the past weeks preceding winning a spot in this event. Could I do it? (I had never run more than 14km)
I didn't expect to endure that much pain, I had wounds on my back from the friction of my bag, my toe nails were lifting off with blood blisters underneath, my tendons ached, feeling like my legs were concrete pillars. I was jet lagged, sleep deprived and unwashed. I was angry that I felt weak, I was frustrated that giving up was such a seductive temptation to fall so easily into. But for the first time in my life when things got hard, I wasn't alone, I had a team, I had 2 Marines, 2 Chiefs and Aquil our survivalists/Veteran who stayed with me on the last legs of the race. I had my mother with me in spirit (rip) and my son in my heart. I had the support to keep going despite the pain. For some it was just a race, for me it was one of those life changing moments. I am stronger than I have ever been. And any goal is possible as long as you keep moving forward. 👉link in bio full vid 👈 #protectthishouse#iwill#uaruncamp@underarmouraust@underarmourrunning@runningheroesaunz#odetteblacklock#athleticmedic
@underarmour just dropped the full video recap from UA Runcamp: The Desert. Link in my bio.
I chopped out this portion bc it was the realest part of the entire experience. It's all fun and games until you get dropped off in the desert with your homies, some food, bare minimum supplies, and poop shovels. Running is definitely physically demanding but more so mentally demanding. Pushing through a run knowing you have to just make it to finish line with beer, a medal, and your bed waiting for you is ideal. But when you get completely removed from your safe environment not knowing what's next for 2 whole days while having to be prepared to run at any moment was a complete mind f*ck. Sleeping in the desert!!! 😂 none is even thought would happen. But as you can see from watching this entire video we all heavily depended on one another to make it through this experience. It takes heart to be a runner for sure.
And nobody was there to massage @djroot456 glutes 😂😂😂. Maybe that rocks we slept on helped him out. Lol.
Thanks for the experience @uarunning and thanks for the holding it down while we were out there @djroot456@rahsaansalaam@email@example.com@raymondhproject@powderedfeet@terriaclayphoto@jamigobao@hannahneczypor#teamUA#Uaruncamp#rundrc#uarun@uarunning
Confessions at Under Armours RunCamp forced us to reflect on the bigger picture of why we all run.
2016 has been my most stand out year yet. So much thrown at me to push me to step in to my true and strongest version of myself. Shout out to our survivalist team leader @task.force.bey I mean you gave us an acronym for survival, night vision goggles, the steps to find out if a plant is poisonous, how to SOS, how to find water. But best of all you left me with the resolve to not just want to survive, but want to win! 2017 I'm coming for you😀
The powerful, ultra-self-reliant survivalist @kellienightlinger right before we tested our resolve in the desert.
She's no doubt at the top of the list of people I'd want with me if I were to get lost in the wilderness or try to survive during a collapse of modern civilization. She is as badass as they come & knows how to capitalize on the seemingly invisible opportunities always around us, even in places like a desert in order to provide some form of sustenance.
I loved learning what I could from you! Thank you.
There is always a reason to be grateful, some times all it takes is looking up. ☝️

Morning sun over the peaceful desert floor, as we ran united towards its gentle warmth. Somehow a soothing memory on this sobering day. ----------------------------------------------------
We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope. - Martin Luther King Jr.
Today is a sad day for equality, freedom of speech, and a society free from the hateful diatribe that has somehow been condoned and allowed. My only consolation is that there are still good people who will stand up in the face of that hatred and refuse to let it win. In the end, love is all we've got. Big hugs to my 🇱🇷 friends south of the border.
Back in March I read a UA blog post Kyle was quoted in. He said "I feel it's key that if you can't mentally push/motivate yourself than there's no point. It doesn't matter if you have people who doubt you or people who believe in you, as long as you believe in yourself...At the end of the day it's all that really matters. #GoitAlone" These words really spoke to me and I reminded myself of them frequently. Well, at Run Camp I finally got to meet Kyle. I couldn't believe we would ever end up in the same place but I guess that's the power of believing in yourself. #uaruncamp#itcomesfrombelow
#MondayMotivation: Be more like @kkobelin. I met Kayla through Run Camp last week. She's from just outside the Seattle area and also twenty-two years old badass adventurer & athlete. We were both the youngest athletes at camp and we naturally clicked as we listed races we've done and told each other about our accomplishments. She is a multi-sport athlete, including sponsorships for snowboarding, OCR and running. Here's a photo of her after the second day of running when we ran on Badwater Road in the heat of the day. We lost tons of fluids on the run as it was 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Luckily we made it to our oasis, Furnace Creek Resort where medical staff from @resquaredmedical were waiting to give us IVs of hydration, recovery and vitamins all in this big drip bag. We go big or we go home. The show up or blow up mentality. Kayla laid it out all on the line. Oh and we had our priorities straight, go right for the food! 💪🏽🏃🏽♀️
Watching the sun set over Death Valley, as dust from a passing vehicle collided with the sinking sun. For a place so seemingly desolate, it's certainly got its own particular brand of beauty.

Well, I finally got to organizing all the gear I received from @underarmour & @uarunning Run Camp: The Desert. Now a week later from the event, I didn't realize how much stuff they gave me since I only ran in one t-shirt that I made into a croptop, a pair of half tights, shoes and the Speedform hydration vest. Thank you, Under Armour for giving me so much swag and gear. I literally don't have to do laundry for at least two weeks now. I have seven shirts, six pairs of shorts, five pairs of shoes, four pairs of socks, three pairs of running tights, two huge bags, a pair of joggers, a hat, a diary, neck gaiter, a hydration vest, and an awesome "Swacket". 🙏🏼❤️✌🏽️

Can you tell I couldn't breathe here? That I was about to give up? That I was hating the world? Push your edge.

Individuals with Sickle Cell trait are potentially at greater risk with exposure to high altitude. Hypoxia will progressively increase the extent of sickling observed with sickle cell trait from 2% at 4,050 ft. to 8.5% at 13,123 ft. // This past March while in a Denver hotel room already at 5,000 ft. I get a call from @jamigobao and the @underarmour Medical team asking if I'm still okay with traveling up to 13,000 ft. for the first @uarunning#RUNCAMP. I had a choice to either put myself in the most uncomfortable situation I've ever been in or just sit back and wonder what could have been. I always want more out of life and I wanted to share the experience with my brothers @rahsaansalaam and @djroot456 // If you want to take yourself out of your comfort zone check the link in my bio to find out how to #EarnYourSpot in the next UA #RunCamp. It's easy for a brand to talk about a lifestyle, to live it is a different story.
The HARDEST 16 miles of my life. I have so much to say about this run - how I dragged myself thru the first 10miles thinking I might die- and how mentally exhausting it was to be in the open desert with no cover. But for now - just know that we finished. I'm about to hop in my first shower in over 24 hours. Brb.
