I thought about not posting this but everyone sees the happiness but they don’t realize the pain.
After almost two months not seeing an emergency room or hospital bed I’m laying in one tonight because my sickle cell is taking over my body. I let the stress from situations and weather change effect me to the point my sickle cell showed it’s head past the point of my control.

When I was 16 I had everything planned out I knew what I was going to study what dreams I wanted to accomplish and everything fell apart because that’s the age I found out I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I never thought I would end up here, end up sick as such a young age... I went thru a really hard time, I was depressed I stopped going to school I stopped smiling and the sparks in my eyes didn’t exist no more. Imagine being a fully grown flower with all its beautiful pedals and then have a big storm rip off all beautifully detailed pedals on that flower. I was that flower with all its pedals and when the storm came it wiped it all off. I couldn’t get it thru my head the fact that I had to grow all these pedals back on my own but differently this time because I am sick and trying to grow and understand myself... I’m still confused about myself and about the things I want and enjoy and who I am. Everything you knew and ur personality all gone and having to restart, wow i honestly find that hard to take in. I’m 20 years old now and after all these years I’m still trying to get by day by day with this horrible illness but I really like to see it as not only a curse but a blessing because I’m still living and keeping my head up. We do everything what everybody else does but work 10 times more, just remember how strong you are because it is a blessing to live with that kind of pain and act normal and act like everything is okay. It just shows how it’s possible but just harder. You are amazing so don’t ever give up, just take a break but make sure you get back up. Today is mental health day. The 10th of October. What does that mean? .
Most of us know someone who suffers from some kind of mental health issue. Maybe it’s our neighbor dealing with depression, a friend having anxiety, or a parent being burned out and struggling with symptoms of stress.
Maybe YOU have experienced the impact of stress, anxiety, eating disorder, depression or traumas on your everyday life and functioning. Maybe you are still in it right now.
I hope you spend a little moment today to think about the people you know having mental health issues. I hope you try to understand how hard it can be to fight it, accept it, work with it... I hope you know that there is hope and then it’s not your fault. I hope you know that you’re OKAY and that you’re not alone. I hope you reach out - either for getting help yourself or for helping the ones who will appreciate a caring thought, a hope, an invitation or a “how are you today”?
Mental health is as important as physical health. We need this awareness. We need to stop the misunderstandings about mental health, the social stigmas and the “pull yourself together”-mentality, and instead take it serious and bring attention to mental illnesses and its effect on peoples’ lives. Life is precious. .
