A good friend goes a long way! 😍🐡
This is both tragic and inspiring. We need more friends in the world like this and NO MORE nets discarded like this! ☹️
One single discarded fishing net can keep killing for hundreds of years! 💀

No chainmail, no cage, do you think this is dangerous?
Would you do it?😮
It could potentially be very dangerous if you are not trained in shark/human interaction.
One of the reasons I can get so close to these feeding sharks is simply the seperation of food from the human. I.e no hand feeding. This key point enables me to get up close and personal with the sharks while they are feeding without the need for chainmail. Through a very specific process of repetitive actions, sounds, food placements we have developed a "working relationship of tolerance" with these sharks. Specifically they tolerate us in certain environments. Make no mistake if I behave in a fashion that is not agreeable with the sharks they will certainly let me know in their own special way. Please don't think you can just jump into the water with sharks. It takes alot of time, specific training and certain sharks to develop this particular type of relationship. We personally choose here to not hand feed. Sharks have a natural heirachy when they feed and we prefer to observe that instead of hand feeding. Thats just the way we like to do it here and not disparaging other operations.
Every year more and more people are coming into contact with sharks because of habitat destruction/overfishing/increasing human presence in the ocean & many other reasons. (and just because they are awesome!) It is vitally important that everyone knows how to behave in the water with sharks. How is the shark communicating with you and how should you communicate with the shark?
It is crucial to the survival of these magnificient animals and of course... the survival of us all. .
Here in the #bahamas the dive center I work for #oceanfoxcottonbay offers specific shark/human interaction behavour training and is the only #padi dive center in the world to offer a shark/human interaction specialty. Sharks are not mindless killing machines that the media portrays and are incredibly misunderstood. .
