Meet Lisa of @casaderami! Her beautiful, bright apartment won us over and she is this week's #homemaderental cohost! Her home is the perfect mix of mid century modern and rustic charm. Lisa definitely has an eye for design and we were lucky enough to get some tips in a little Q & A. Check it out! 👇🏼
Q: What’s the most challenging part of renting?
A: For me the most challenging part of renting are the solid limitations. Not being able to completely renovate a space like the very outdated kitchen with no window, or bathroom. When it’s beyond my control like that, it’s a challenge
Q: What’s one tip you have for renters?
A: Get super creative! There are ways to makeover a space without breaking the bank or the lease. Contact paper, removable wallpaper, even washi tape. All these things can completely transform a space.
Q: What’s your best renter’s hack?
A: That’s a tough one! For me, I’d have to say my best renters hack is contact paper! Don’t like the color of the counter tops? Contact paper! Want to take off the cabinet doors in the kitchen but don’t like or can’t paint the inside of the cabinets? Contact paper! It does wonders ☺️
Thanks Lisa and thank you to last week’s cohost @hayleymcintosh for hosting with us!•

This year’s housing market predicts a variable of factors as to why residents saw rents peak, luxury wallow, and affordable homes become a rare commodity to find. Even though New York’s recent economy blossomed, finding a place to live that’s easy on the checkbook remains as a challenge for New Yorkers. Here are a few factors as to why New Yorker’s might want to reconsider choosing to invest in a home priced slightly higher than they desire:
1. Changes in Transportation - 2019 L Train shutdown and NYC Ferry service expansion.
2. Rents Will Fall and Concessions Will Rise - New high-end rentals promise no future increases and allows negotiating edge to prospective tenants.
3. Quirky Amenity Craze - creating added value to new high-end buildings to lure tenants in based on uniqueness (cooking classes, wine tasting, etc.).
