So excited to share Thaise with you! Her knitting/crochet/sewing story is so beautiful - and we love that she is joining in the fun from so far away! 👇🏽
Hi everyone! 👋🏾 Thaise here, answering a prompt from @meetmakersofcolor and introducing myself!
I started sewing/crocheting when I was about 10-11 while spending summers at my grandparent’s house and just fell in love. While I’m sure grandma wanted me to learn how to tell stories through quilts like she does, my sewing is primarily garments. I consider myself a ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ crafter. 🤷🏾♀️ I started getting serious about sewing my own clothes because I was tired of society was telling me to shrink myself in terms of the colors I wear or the styles I like. It’s still something I struggle with but I making more of an effort this year!
It’s nice to see more and more bipoc online as it can be disheartening to see faces that don’t look like yours. #bangyourowndrum#wocwhosews#wocknitter#meetmakersofcolor
When the details make your job easy and the light is just right. I must have said it at least three times this week, I truly love my job. Details by @ellis_stine Image by @imegphotos Location @thecrystalpoint

Alright folks, episode 37 of the podcast is up now (link in the profile) and I’m so excited for you to hear me gab about this hat. It’s my own design (almost identical to the one I designed for Aengus with just some minor modifications) and I can’t wait to get it tested and published. Head over to YouTube now to watch the podcast to hear not only about this, but a bunch of other knitty goodness. Still thinking over a name for this...🤔🤔🤔Shown here on my brother Tyler. 😊 #woolneedleshandsafiberjourney
New saw is installed in the table. It’s all nice and squared up and ready to help me finish a commission piece. In case you were wondering about the table it’s 7’x12’. The fence has about 3’ to the left of the blade and 4’ to the right. The fence is 4’ long. I set it up this way to cut down sheet goods easily but I still find it difficult. As I move forward I will be finishing drawers to the top. Likely a router table on the right side of the saw As well. Plenty to do. #diy#maker#makersgonnamake#shopproject#woodworking#ryobi#ryobination
Starting to see the lamp come together. All four side panels have their asanoha kumiko made, and now it’s on to leveling them, sourcing the lamp parts (@jonnybuilds what did you use for your lamp?), and making a kumiko panel for the top.
This semester I’m taking a Brain & Behavior course ~ assignment one to use creation to make the brain 🧠

What better way to launch a new feed for my creative works than the pattern for this pillow? Here's to new beginnings! Link to my Ravelry store in my bio. ^^
About this pattern:
The birch tree is a symbol of renewal, of new beginnings. It’s a promise of what’s yet to come. What better reminder, for the new year (or any time of year), that now is the best time to begin. To begin that thing you’ve always wanted to do. To try something new, or rekindle something old. Don’t worry about how it’s going to turn out. The magic is in getting started. Begin!
This accent pillow can be placed anywhere you need a reminder to just begin, already! Its finished size is approximately 35cm (14”) tall by 55cm (22”) wide, although you could make it taller by adding additional rows (instructions are not included for this).
Loops and Threads Charisma Tweed in white is recommended for the main colour because it mimics the colours of birch bark, but feel free to use any bulky weight yarn in whatever colour you desire.

Incredible Dragon collab I made with @credoglass! 🐲🐲🐲 his fume technique is insane! Very happy with how this came together and I very much enjoyed working with Alex for a few days! He is a very meticulous and focused worker which somewhat juxtaposes my usual flailing and freestyling. Learned a lot from working with him! This guy is currently available to a good home dm for inquiry. ☺️

10 year challenge (well as close as I cld find photo wise). My life has changed immeasurable in 10 years and I would say mostly for the better. I left commercial design and went back to being a maker, so now I’m living the dream. Though I loved working as a design consultant and teaching at Goldsmiths, I now feel I am doing what I was always designed to do and that is make things!! My health is better, I am less stressed, I worry less, I am more content and ‘at one with myself’ and I feel like I have finally found who was meant to be all along. The joy of continually learning never dies and generally life is good. So the moral of the story is life can get better as you age!!! This is my Indian Summer and I feel so lucky to have discovered this new creative space and energy - suits me down to the ground So I say “thank you destiny for introducing me to pottery!” #10yearchallenge#creativity#freedom#love#luck#destiny#pottery#makersgonnamake#make#maker#livingthedream#peckham
In progress. 🍄 I’m making quite a lot right now, but I haven’t been posting/scrolling here on this feed. It’s good to step away from IG a bit and focus on the creative process of making, to immerse in it. I hope all of you are finding some beauty and magic in this new year. ✨ I’ll be having a shop update within a week or so - embroidered tiny friends coming soon.
