“Why are you so happy/relaxed/ why is your energy so consistent?” These are all awesome compliments from patients, so today’s talk is about the word balance. I hate that word, mostly because it hedges towards this weird sense of stoner zen that’s become a popular euphemism, and also I’m not naturally a “super chill” “relaxed” “easy-going” kind of person. I am an extreme kind of gal and most of my patients are as well. Balance is NOT STATIC or “relaxed”. It should imply oscillating between wakefulness and rest so the tension naturally pulls you through daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cycles without resistance. What this looks like in practice is harnessing the full force of your daily shifts from waking, to working or whatever, to eating/sleeping. We accomplish this through needles, herbs, beating the sh*t out of tire, sleeping properly, and having relationships that are respectful and just. This is the ideal, and this can be accomplished by doing it, and constant self-feedback. This is why I love my patients, and we motivate each other- for me, to consistently practice what I preach, and for them, to use my craft as a tool and my failures to avoid. People assume that because I’m into fitness, all I eat are salads and I don’t have a social life, but in reality I am NOT on a diet and it’s not about eating healthy ALL the time.. it’s about having a BALANCE LIFE 🤗
I don't believe strict diets, no alcohol and not going out. We all have to live and have fun!🍻 There was a time I was obsessed with loosing weight and if I went out and enjoyed a meal with friends or drank alcohol, I would be afraid I would gain it back. Then I realized, I'm wasting time I could be spending with friends and having fun just to LOOK good physically rather than FEELING good and having balance in my life. 🧘🏼♀️
It's all about having the right mindset. 💆🏻♀️For me, fitness is more than just looking good physically, it's a lifestyle. If I go out, I make sure I get my workout done in the morning or at night before I do. 😎I workout because I LOVE it. It makes me happy and I love pushing myself and doing things I never thought I could. ✨You have to prioritize the important things in your life and still manage to have fun after!
Eat the foods you love, drink if you want to, hang out with your friends and do everything you love doing. 🍪But remember the other side of it, workout, eat healthy 90% of the time and try to be happy doing all the things you love. 🥊
It's okay to have a drink here and there, is what's important is getting back on track. It can be hard to get back into your routine, but keep pushing yourself and remember WHY you started your fitness journey and don't let things like going out or having a drink and a delicious meal affect that.
You've gotten far enough, keep having a social life. Time management is key to maintaining your social life. If you know you're going out at night, workout in the morning. If you manage to do this, you'll realize you'll stress less about fitting your workouts on your weekends while maintaining a social life. 👊🏼
