If your veterinarian has instructed you to put the “cone of shame” on your pet, then PLEASE follow these instructions. We (your veterinary team) have all experienced the annoyance of the cone on our own pets at some point in time but it is needed during certain circumstances. The cone is used to keep your pet healthy and is generally only needed for a short length of time. Your pet WILL get used to it. 🐶😺🧡 #nickelcityanimalhospital#cone#coneofshame#safepets#pets#dogs#dogsofbuffalo#keepyourpetssfe#educate

Our first but not last plogging event was a total success!
The theme of this week’s exercises will be hip hinging, specifically, in the hip thrust/bridge variation.
The hip bridge/thrust is a highly underrated movement that is usually associated with Instagram models trying to show off their booty’s. Little do they know that this movement pattern can actually be extremely beneficial in terms of strengthening the glutes and having phenomenal carry-over to the main lifts if done correctly.
Here we’re going over the hip thrust with a hip circle. The hip circle promotes glute activation since it forces you to push your knees out against the band. Performing the exercise is simple. Find a bench, put your arms out straight and lay your shoulder blades down against it. Put your feet shoulder width apart with your toes facing forwards and drive your hips to the ceiling. Be sure to focus on squeezing your ass hard at the top to fully flex the glutes. Control your hips down to just above the floor and then repeat.
Doing this exercise at the end of a leg workout, specifically anything focusing on the glutes and hamstrings, will be a great tool for burn out and maximizing hypertrophy in those muscles.
Give them a try and let me know how they go down in the comments.
CDC's Act Against AIDS initiative recently launched Prescribe HIV Prevention
Prescribe HIV Prevention educates providers and patients about these biomedical prevention tools and encourages providers to consider PrEP and PEP for patients at high exposure to HIV. It includes resources such as a guide for discussing sexual health with patients, brochures and posters to educate patients about PrEP and PEP, continuing medical education programs, and a medication guide for patients. PrEP is a way for people who are HIV-negative but at high risk for getting the virus to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. PrEP is highly effective when taken as prescribed. PEP is the use of antiretroviral drugs after a single high-risk event to prevent HIV. It must be started within 72 hours of a possible exposure. #PEP#prep#clinicaltrials#communityengagement#prevention#educate#actagaintshiv#hishealth

If you spent as much time with a horse, cow, lamb, pig or any other mammal as much as you do with your pet dog, your compassion would be just as strong. These animals are SMART. Make friends, not food. #govegan
When I tell my story, the one thing I keep saying, “Madison bullying situation at school was a blessing and a curse.” Miami Dade County offers the ESE Family forum to educated and give free information to family and friends. Please do not let this opportunity pass you, this was where I began to gather information before Madison was diagnosed.
Share this information with your friends and family to be educated on how to help love ones. I know for a fact having a child with Autism is an additional expense, there is help and free information that will be available at this event to help relieve that burden.
It’s a new week so you gotta fight your inner demon this week and you’re gonna win. You don’t fight it you control it. When you learn to do that it’ll be damn near impossible to stop ya. So keep going stay positive
WHY IS FOOD QUALITY SO IMPORTANT?
We always hear calories in and calories out is what counts. Eating in a caloric deficit will make you lose weight, it will make you skinny. BUT will it make you healthy? .
Food is fuel, but not all fuel has the same effect on the body. This is where the importance of food QUALITY not quantity comes in. .
What happens when we put fuel in our body? Food is converted to energy in the form of glucose.
After eating, insulin production increases due to the elevation in blood glucose levels. Insulin is responsible for mobilizing glucose as an energy source, and storing excess in fat cells for future use. Insulin LOWERS blood glucose levels. .
Glucagon, on the other hand, RAISES blood glucose. .
In the perfect world, your body would maintain a constant blood glucose level of 5 grams. This is the green line on my graph, our goal glucose level. .
When we eat refined carbs, or sugary foods, our blood glucose spikes FAST and HIGH. In order to compensate for this significant jump in blood glucose, our body produces a significant amount of insulin. Actually, it produces too much, causing our blood glucose level to drop below the goal of 5 grams, demonstrated by the red line. This rapid spike, followed by the plunge in blood glucose levels results in your high and low energy levels throughout the day. .
On the other hand, low glycemic carbohydrates, the purple line, have less of an impact on blood glucose levels. Ingestion of low glycemic foods leads to a slow and gradual increase in glucose levels, allowing the body to respond with the correct amount of insulin to bring the glucose level back to goal, without dropping too low. This cuts out those rises and falls in energy. .
One study found the average American eats ½ pound of sugar per day. What happens if you continue to eat refined carbs? Your body develops a chronically high blood sugar, resulting in chronically elevated insulin levels, called hyperinsulinemia. .
Hyperinsulinemia is the root cause of chronic disease.
Chronic disease is responsible for 70% of deaths worldwide every year.
Just think about the kinda workout you just did. You killed it hit another PR, you’re the man/woman. All the while you feel some sort of dis-satisfaction. It’s that feeling where you’re not feeling adequate enough. Everyone feels or have felt that way, but I’m here to say you are enough.

The personal qualities we carry with us beyond school don’t simply define what we’ve learned. 📚 They also show people who we are because of who we’ve chosen to be. 👨🏼🎨 So the right choices are critical to success in every part of life. These kinds of qualities build our relationships and partnerships in both the virtual and the physical worlds. In many cases, they are some of the most important life skills we have as members of a caring and fruitful society. 🙌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They play a part in our prosperity and success, and help us decide when to take action and when to observe. 🧐 We use them in deciding how much we want to grow and learn in a changing world. Each of our personal qualities has a practical application in our daily lives which can’t be measured by a standardized test. Nevertheless, they are qualities every student can benefit from developing. 🔝
