One challenge about becoming 'disabled' later in life is that it forces you to almost shift your identity. I can't think of any aspect of my life that wasn't impacted and it requires you to think and do almost everything differently. As if searching for yourself isn't hard enough, you are now stamped with so many different labels. I learned to not let those labels or assumption define me though. I'm grateful that attitude has given me the fight to recover as much as I have, but most importantly it allows me to live and enjoy life. If I accepted the life that people expected me to live then I definitely wouldn't be where I am now.
I want to thank every single person who took their time in reading luca story for #worldmeningitisday and to continue to watch his journey/progress from beginning to now for #lifeaftermeningitis to raise awareness! I can’t believe the amount of messages we received with such beautiful kind words, it really does mean the world to us knowing we have so much support behind us, you are all truly amazing 💕
Yesterday was suppose to be the pacer walker assessment but they turned up with a toilet instead 😂 was so gutted but it’s re-booked in for 9th May so we’re so used to waiting now what’s another 2 weeks eh? It gives us something to look forward to for when we get back off our holiday 🙊
Today was luca tone management assessment and we’ve been going back and forth for so long in choosing if baclofen is the right things for luca, it basically loosens all your muscles but luca has weak arms and low core but extreme stiffness in his legs, so all we can do is try it and if we see any signs it’s causing problems we can stop 💕
By the way my top is from @strongmummaclothing how gorgeous is it? Says mumma in the friends style 🤪 check out her page and you can even get discount by using code twinsandtoddler10 🙊

"Non ti chiedo che giochino bene, non ti chiedo di fare miracoli, ma ti chiedo di non arrenderti." ~ Non ci resta che vincere
yesterday, for the first time in 2.5 years (since my injury) i was able to go off alone, without jacob, in nature with my dogs. this is thanks to adaption miracles like @go_freewheel and @max_smartdrive . .
it honestly felt like one of the happiest moments in my life. i may be a wheelchair user... my arms, hands, legs, and core etc. may be affected by paralysis—but i am still an adventurer, still an outdoor lover, still a thrill seeker. .
i want to be SEEN as such, and ultimately i want others in my situation who have the same passions, to have the accessibility to experience this freedom as well. we deserve to be SEEN as we are still the same people we were before. .
. #reeveseeus@reevefoundation is fighting to combat the stigma and obstacles for individuals with spinal cord injury. the more stories we have of people raising their voice to be seen, the more accessibility needs will be fought for, the more research will be done to find a cure, the more we will be seen as a community of warriors fighting for their best life possible. .
join in this movement by posting and tagging #reeveseeus , share this post, tag anyone you know with an sci, or visit reeveseeus.org to see the collection of stories of fighters who are taking back their life. paralysis cannot win.
how do you want to be seen? [link in bio]
My big sis nicking my bed again.
We have been for a walk to the local stores butits a tad breezy and wet today; I don't like that!
Mum went to doctors and we were so happy that the public were so good and even said they know not to distract me - even though they know I'm ultra cute; I am cute arent I? #teamAJ
Officially 3 weeks post-op and 3 years with my boyfriend so off I go to see Marvel’s Endgame looking less like a thumb than I have for the past 3 weeks 🙃

Here are some more photos from the project reception yesterday. This family’s youngest son was in an accident, and he spent a significant amount of time in the hospital before being able to return home. Once @angelsofcare was able to provide enough nursing services, the hospital released him but the family still had to carry him up 8 steps to get him in/out the house. The HBA heard about the need for safer and easier access, so we all jumped in to help. First a new door was added on the main/upper floor. Next, a deck was built at the front of the house for our lift to attach to. Then a concrete stoop was poured to replace the uneven front steps, and lastly we added a ramp to get onto the new patio. All of this was done at no cost to the family ☺️ in fact, there was even a little $$ left over for additional projects in the home! #payitforward#givingback#fundraiser#community#disability#assistance#handicap#mobility#home#coloradosprings#access#localbusiness#colorado#supportsmallbusiness

My old leg didn't bend & was useless.
With practice, I'll walk & sit normally. I might even jog.
Something worth remembering! A lot of disabilities are invisible. We don’t always have broken bones, crutches or wheelchairs - not to mention that a lot of people with chronic illnesses have learned to fight through it in silence. Don’t judge other people, because you can never really know what they may be going through.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I got a girlfriend. This is how.
I stopped looking. I realized that I was putting way too much time into trying to get into a relationship that I had become incredibly uninteresting. I had given up all the things I enjoyed doing to pursue women and go on dates.
I stared to date myself. Went to concerts, art shows, festivals, coffee shops, restaurants, focused a lot on going to the gym to get my body right. I picked up hobbies and started to focus on myself professionally.
The only way to attract someone interesting is to BE interesting. I had to become the kind of person I wanted to date. I didn’t want to date a boring, uninteresting, unfit, desperate for a relationship kind of woman. So I changed my approach and started focusing on myself instead.
Guess what happened next? I met @jalilaelfejji at the gym and asked her out. Since I had been dating myself I had a lot of interesting places take her. Adventure after adventure, night after night we spent together. She could see I was a well rounded individual who was doing interesting things with his life.
So if you’re looking for love get off the apps and start doing interesting things with you life. Your future self and future partner will be thankful you did.
