What’s your family background and heritage? ⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m Polish, czesz! My parents left communist Poland and came to Canada to live their best life. As a first generation Canadian, I have my family to thank for the opportunities I've been afforded as a result of living in this remarkable country. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My Polish heritage has been greatly impactful in my life. I grew up speaking the language, eating the food, and learning traditional songs and dances. As we start a family of our own, I hope to pass these things down to the little one. A beautiful life in Canada, with a whole lotta Polish on the side (and maybe some pierogies too 😋). ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where is your family from? ⠀⠀⠀⠀

With its location near the mouth of the Fraser River and on the waterways of the Strait of Georgia, Howe Sound, Burrard Inlet, and their tributaries, Vancouver has, for thousands of years, been a place of meeting, trade and settlement. The presence of people in what is now called the Lower Mainland of British Columbia dates from 8,000 to 10,000 years ago when the glaciers of the last ice age began to disappear. The area, known to the First Nations
as S'ólh Téméxw, shows archeologicalevidence of a seasonal encampment ("the Glenrose Cannery site") near the mouth of the Fraser River that dates from that time.
The first Europeans to explore the area were Spanish Captain José María Narváez in 1791, and British naval Captain George Vancouver in 1792. The area was not settled by Europeans until almost a century later, in 1862. The city grew rapidly following completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway transcontinental line from Eastern Canada, allowing for continuous rail service in the late 1880s.
I got a “Would you rather?” question for y’all: would you rather go on a vacay somewhere in the mountains or somewhere with a nice beach? 🏔🤔🏝 For me, I’m team mountains since I never ever saw them while growing up in flat land Texas, so they fascinate me! The Rockies in Banff especially blew me away 🇨🇦 In case you missed my newest blog post, I shared a list of the top 8 things you should do in Banff National Park should you ever visit—and you should!
