I’ve had this copy of Wuthering Heights since around 2001 💀 - so I must have been in 5th/6th grade! I have so many questions for middle school Evelyn. Why? Did you think you could hang with Emily Brontë? Were you feeling crazy at the scholastic book fair? Was this the start of your impulse literature buying? Obviously middle school Evelyn had zero interest in this book, but today everything finally came full circle for her 😂.
Brontë’s Wuthering Heights is a lot of things: simple, yet monumental, heart wrenching, and moody. The characters toil away from civilization in the wilderness, feeling unloved and then obsessed with love (in an almost cyclical nature). The story is romantic but in a soul crushing, obsessive way - it is dark, vindictive, and cruel but ultimately outlives death.
While I found most characters interesting, Heathcliff stood apart. Heathcliff is often considered a romantic figure in classic literature, but I found him to be more than that. Sure, he’s broody and stand-off-ish, but Heathcliff is incredibly multilayered. He’s consumed by revenge, a devil among men, and never treated well by the ones he later destroys. He’s human and an outsider, something relatable to everyone at least at some point. Catherine and Heathcliff have a complicated, messy relationship. Again, relatable. What relationship fits a mold or sails un-convoluted on calm waters?
Emily Brontë’s love story is just as untamed as the moors Wuthering Heights inhabitants.
Retrospectively, I’m glad middle school Evelyn felt the need to have this edition on her bookshelf where it will live, indefinitely.

My new apartment is absolutely perfect. I’ve never felt so at home in a space. It’s absolutely perfect for writing and I can actually have people. Just having a clean, not gross space is such a relief. I’m so grateful. Also, thank you all for keeping the support for VALKYRIE going—it has stayed at # 1 in two categories all day! If you get the chance to post a quick one or two sentence Amazon review that would be INCREDIBLE because they’re so important! Link is in my bio! 🖤
Oh hey! Look who's going to read tonight! 🤗 No better way to get out of my slump then to start the last of this amazing trilogy!
This @sweetsequels Saturday I'm covered up in my favorite fleece blanket & sending congratulations and love to Haleigh on the birth of her beautiful son ❤ Glory be to God for such a blessing!
Happy Easter to you all. Faith is such a wonderful, glorious, peaceful gift. Believing is more than lip service. When you have faith in your heart, it will comfort and guide you. What a gift. ❤
#aprillitwrit19#meetthewriter - Mood today 😐☕💁
I was really torn on sharing this photo 🙈
Today is meet the writer. So here I am in all my cosplaying glory. 😅
Hello to my new friends! My name is Neisa, but I like to go by Rae sometimes. I knew I wanted to be a writer in middle school, when I was first introduced to fantasy fiction. I started writing stories. They were embarrassingly terrible 😂😅 but I kept at it, and couldn't imagine life without my stories.
I'm 27, a Gemini, INFP, mom, and Ravenclaw. I'm a coffee lover (addict), I love watching anime in my free time, and funko collector.
I live in West Virginia but my heart belongs to the beach. Fantasy is my favorite genre of course 😍, and C.S. Lewis is my favorite author!
. #fantasywipapril#fantasywip Will anyone die? Oooh I love today's question! Yes! People die...evil laughter in the distance..😅😂😂 But I won't say anymore cause it would reeeeaaaallllyyyy spoil my story!!! #amwriting#meetthebookstagrammer#cosplayer

The Easter Bunny is not the only one hiding treats this weekend! The classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, was left at the Lindsay Square Mall in Lindsay, Ontario just before the Easter Bunny's arrival. Happy Spring! 🐰

Happy Saturday bookworms! I hope you all had lovely days. I finished a book, played with my son, and celebrated Easter with my family, so my day was pretty good! .
Today's book stack has an important theme: diversity. Diversity in fiction creates empathy, broadens world views, and is one of the easiest ways we can get to know those who differ from us. It's crucial we support diverse books and authors, and I'm pleased to say that these novels have all been published in the last few years. Publishing has a long way to go to diversify, but the YA world is most definitely moving in the right direction. .
Have you enjoyed any of these books? I still need to read three from this stack: Dear Martin, Tiffany Sly Lives Here Now, and Emergency Contact. They are all on my 2019 list! .

It was a year of change.
A year of looking back at the distance we had travelled.
But also to the future, the road that lay ahead.
Sometimes, never letting go becomes a letting in, an opening up.
And surrender itself can be the bravest act of all.
Courage cannot move mountains but it can show us how to climb find a way, forge a path that we believe in.
And emboldened, we stand firm, knowing where we stand and where we're headed and where we can belong.

➵ “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” I love this quote from Anne of Green Gables even more today, as my Spring allergies beat me into submission and I long for all the trees to finish their blooming. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
➵ QOTD: What are some of your favorite quotes? ⠀
➵ These gorgeous bookmarks are from my sweet friend, @hollydunndesign. You can use code BOOKWORM10 to save in her shop. 🖤🍂⠀
I had the most beautiful day today. We went to a national park in the Netherlands and now I am sitting on the sofa, watching The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, nibbling on some easter chocolate. Tomorrow we are off to some more easter celebrations with the family - and lots of food. The thing I love most about holidays.
⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Q: What is your favourite holiday? 🐰
