✨BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA—So this was an interesting place. My first real fish market, and it happened to be one of the largest in the world. 😱 I couldn’t get over the number of vendors and the rows and rows of fresh fish. 🐟🦞 🐠 🦐🦀 (Yes, I ❤️ emojis! 🥰) One of the vendors allowed the kids to pet his fish 😂. We even got brave enough to have a fresh fish snack while we were there!

✨BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA—I’m not sure why I never thought that South Korea would also have cherry blossoms, but they do! Not as many as Japan, but just as beautiful. 🌸 Any unexpected places you’ve seen cherry blossoms?

✨TOKYO, JAPAN—I had another weekend to myself in Tokyo ( #nbd 🤷♀️ 😉) and took myself to an amazing tea house and flower market. After walking through the floral shop, a lovely tea house greeted me on the other side with flowers oozing out of every crevice imaginable. Flowers and edible plants were also in all of the food—rose French toast and lemon thyme tea are what I sampled. My mantra for this particular trip was, “Would my kids hate this? Yup? I’m doing it.” 🤣

✨IWAKUNI, JAPAN—Sakura trees during peak days is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”

✨HIROSHIMA, JAPAN—One of my absolute favorites things in Japan is participating in a tea ceremony. The sights, sounds, and smells all culminate into a beautiful zen meditation experience. My sweet friend @yuki_tessen gives classes to foreigners and loves to share her passion for her own culture with other cultures. 🍵 👘

✨TOKYO, JAPAN—I had a weekend to myself in Tokyo with no real agenda this time. I stumbled upon the Tokyo Teien Art Museum. I toured the #artdeco inspired house, art, and lovely traditional Japanese garden. The home was completed in 1933, and I just so happened to have Fitzgerald’s “Tender is the Night” (published in 1934) in my purse. Sitting and reading under a persimmon tree was the perfect accompaniment to my visit there.

✨IWAKUNI, JAPAN—The boys enjoying ice cream under the #sakura trees. #Hanami is the Japanese tradition of welcoming spring by sharing time (and food!) with loved ones and pondering our fleeting lives. Sounds so poetic, but kinda morbid. Either way, ice cream was involved and everyone was fleetingly happy. 😆
