I found much of this quite engaging, primarily thanks to the very impressive performances by Victor Polster and Arieh Worthalter, and Frank van den Eeden's nimble, intimate camerawork. But for all the time we spend with Lara, we don't learn much about her aside from the fact that she wants to be a ballerina, and that she's desperate to complete her transition as soon as possible. It ends up feeling like a thin hook on which to hang a character study, with too much going under-explored, and some of its scenes feel like they're going over the same old territory instead of broadening its scope or revealing new layers. Whatever the film's virtues and flaws, the ending is a disaster, and Dhont's use of a shocking act of violence (followed by an utterly baffling epilogue) just comes off as a cheap move and a failure of imagination and empathy.
I haven’t been posting over the past months cause I’ve been occupied with new work and I got bored of how the car is right now. Still few more months to go before the shipment from Japan arrives with all the new parts I ordered for a full refresh so this may probably be the only post till then.
