Got a nice swim in today. Looking forward to getting more distance and less time... My stroke is amazing... if I didn’t have to come up to breathe.. it seems that when I roll to breathe it throws my balance off... I must learn how to not be thrown off balance ... any thoughts? Thanks guys!

We often say, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” & this is how lucky I feel every day. I grew up in the south of France, in Corsica – a beautiful Island, with a single mom who always did everything she could to teach me how to be a better person, healthy, active, & to give back to people in need.
I was, unfortunately, diagnosed at 7y.o with a serious kidney disease, which changed mom’s life & mine. the doctors came to the conclusion that both of my kidneys did not filter the fluids in my body anymore & were slowly dying. It was a great struggle to have a normal, active lifestyle, but I came out of it stronger with a lot of ambition & positivity.
In June '17, in Philadelphia, I did my first Triathlon. A few hours later, I wanted to become a triathlete & make this sport my new challenge. I immediately found this type of race fascinating because I enjoy being challenged.
In the following months, I made amazing progress throughout my journey & progressed up to the 70.3 distance, thanks to my amazing coaches. I spoke to Don & told him to push our limits further & register for a 140.6. A few days later, I was officially registered for Copenhagen 140.6, that took place on Aug 19th, 2018. In less than 14 months of racing my first ever Triathlon, I was going to do the full-distance! Unbelievable.
The big day of my 140.6 arrived faster than I had ever thought. A long & difficult race but perhaps the most rewarding feeling I have felt so far! Ironman NZ & Austria are next in 2019!
I have partnered with the National Kidney Foundation, an amazing organization dedicated to the awareness, prevention, & treatment of kidney disease. They help those who care for, suffer from, & are at risk of kidney disease. I want to inspire, represent & motivate people who undergo such difficult experiences in their lives & show them that “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” (– Dale Carnegie) ~ Melodie Carli

How "fat" are you?
Polyunsaturated Fats (PUFA) which include omega 3, omega 6, all nuts, all seeds, heated olive oil. They are the most unstable fat and easily oxidized. This can result in things "such as testicular degeneration, softening of the brain, muscle damage, and spontaneous cancer, (as well as) heart damage" - RP
Monounsaturated fat (MUFA) which include olive oil, and avocados. It is the least harmful of all unsaturated fats and a lot more stable than PUFAs.
Saturated fats which include butter, coconut oil and ghee. Research says, "saturated fat appears to be necessary for stability of the mitochondria. (Increases) cellular respiration" decreases inflammation, increases metabolism, and "inhibits production of adrenaline." -RP
