It was a nasty race and i learned a lot.
For instance, be more aware of your surroundings. Didn’t realize the twister lane at the end had those annoying grip things on it and I paid the price 😂also, obstacle technique for sure. It was super slippery and I had to change my technique accordingly. @gutsovermatter@diegobressant@junk es_hkp did a great job prepping me for it. Anyway that’s over. Time to recover and get ready for the next race. Thanks for the lessons big bear. 🐻 . Earned my trifecta. .

Do not take it for granted. Ever.
Today marks one year since breaking both my feet. One year of learning who I was and facing it head on. Six months I was immobilized. I was unsure of what I’d be able to do again. Those first few steps after those six months were something I won’t ever forget. Once completing therapy I began to start back on my fitness journey. I ran a few more races, took a podium, and realized that the fire that was there had gone away. OCR is a huge part of my life now. But I can’t find joy in competing anymore so for now, I’m going to take a step back and just try to enjoy them with my friends. Coming back from this has not been easy. There were many days I just didn’t sleep. Who am I now? What if’s? Things that will drive you insane. I focused on school, on rehab, on setting goals and achieving them. Because of this I found CrossFit, it’s always been something that has caught my eye when it first exploded onto the scene. I’m now a part of @crossfit_sarasota and the coaches and members there have been very welcoming and they truly care about your best interest. Joining them has helped me tremendously in my strength and my mobility. I’m pain free and there is no better feeling than that. My eyes are set on this new journey and I’m excited to see where they take me. I have a year of school left that starts in September, I have a corner of people who I know now will be there through the very worst. I’m grateful this happened. It has removed those unsuited for my path and has given me people that will help me grow even more. To celebrate my anniversary, this morning I went for a workout and was doing things that a little more than 6 months ago I could only dream of doing again. This year has shown me a lot. Most importantly it’s shown me what I can take and keep going. Don’t take it for granted. I had a pair of 10th place finishes this weekend at the @spartanrace Montana Beast (Saturday) and Sprint (Sunday). The course was rugged, the water was cold, and if you raced this weekend, you left tougher than when you came.
Main takeaway from this race is: although focusing on weaknesses in the offseason is a great strategy, don’t forget about your strengths. Keep at them even if it’s in a reduced capacity. If you don’t use it, you lose it.
Connected with a lot of great people this weekend both on course and around the venue, so thanks to everyone who I was able to meet and/or catch up with!

Two days of Floridian sun, fast races, and great company. 11th and 9th overall on the Saturday and Sunday respectively for me, running felt good but was slow at the end when the carriers were placed. Guess need to start incorporate them carriers back into the training 🤷. Luckily the next race isn't until May 18th, so plenty of time.
Best part was the cool down lap after the Sunday race. Got to practice the obstacles, enjoy the venue, and enjoy the shake out run with friends.
